"Rooms were dirty when I arrived; coffe stains and dust on the ground, nothing is provided, there’s a huge hole in the stairway’s ceiling, there’s only 5 (expensive) low quality washing machines for all the students (most of the time, only 3 aren’t out of order). The location isn’t ideal an quite far from the uni campus. I definitively would’t recommend this accommodation; what you get is not worth the 770£/month rent."
"I stayed here for a 2 month internship program and knew beforehand that this was the accommodation we would be staying at. I read the reviews about it being extremely hot and thought, “how is that possible? Edinburgh doesn’t get that hot”. I was wrong. There is no ac and the windows barely open, so there’s zero air flow. I would suggest bringing or buying a fan if you plan to stay long term. Also, housekeeping would barge into our flat without any notice. No knocking, no announcement. Also, when we arrived, the floor wasn’t swept or cleaned. One time when they changed our bedding, I got one with unknown stains on it. There was also one weekend when there was a big group staying at the hotel and they were so loud every night and nothing was done to stop them from disturbing the rest of the people in the accommodation. Every time I left through the lobby, the check in line was always long."
"Location and price are the best things about this student dorm room. It is located just a 5 minute walk from the Royal Mile. Worst was the heat. It felt like they had the heater on, and it was noticeably warmer in the dorm common floors and rooms than the outside temperature. There is a window, but it barely cracks open at the top, There is no top sheet given, but a thick comforter that is way to heavy for the summer. Ask for an extra sheet at the reception. It is at all warm, as for a fan as well. They are tiny USB fans they will lend you (for a $20 deposit) but its better than nothing. No coffee service, you need your own towel or rent one for 3 pounds. Otherwise, rooms were clean and comfortable."
"Good basic accommodation. Room size was good (studio room). Central location (about 25 min walk to city centre). Tour buses stop at bus stop outside, so very handy if you have a tour bus ticket and don't want to walk to city centre. Parliament building a very short walk away. Took my own bed linen, towels etc. Seems safe and secure if you're a lone traveller. Staff very helpful. Hope to book again for next year - but they appear to be fully booked already."
"Location is great, near Arthur's seat and the bottom of the Royal Mile. This is not a hotel, but rather a hostel - towels need to be paid for and there is no room service/housekeeping. The rooms are quite small. You need to ask reception for any toiletries. Staff at reception are friendly but there is only one person at any time so the queues can get quite long. Check in is 4pm and the queue for that can get very long... better to wait until the evening to check in. Prices are cheap so would stay there for 1 night (max 2) but not any longer."
