Crowne Plaza Edinburgh - Royal Terrace, an IHG Hotel 18 Royal Terrace, Edinburgh EH7 5AQ

"Got a really massive and beautiful room. Service was amazing and the breakfast are great too! Lovely haggis. While the hotel is located a bit further out from the city, it suits me that I get to have quiet night and just a nice area that isn't too busy to stroll in. The staff were amazing. The room was nice with a lot of amenities, though the water pressure of the shower head is a bit low and it took longer to shower. A lovely experience here overall, will be returning soon again when I'm in Edinburgh."

"This is a great hotel. The desk staff was superb. The breakfast buffet is large and varied. The food and beverage crew was also above par in service and friendliness. Located on a quiet street, one block from the entrance to both Old and New Towns, the Edinburgh Crowne Plaza is one of many businesses/residences in a long line of attached buildings. One of Calton Hill's entrances is accessible on the left as you head toward the town center. The views from there are not to be missed. My room was clean, up-to-date with all necessary modern conveniences, and had an ample sized attractive bathroom which was fully stocked with soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. I ran out of body gel during my stay, let the main desk know, and within a few minutes a nice lady from housekeeping was at my door with a full bottle. I heartily recommend staying in this hotel (in the process of converting over to another hotel brand under the same company umbrella as Crowne Plaza) due to the staff, atmosphere, modern conveniences and quiet location. I read, with amazement, other reviews stating how loud their rooms were. Not my experience. Also, most of the city's hotels are located in the town center, and no matter what a business claims, it's hard to make soundproof windows that block out traffic noise. The Crowne Plaza is a jewel located on a quiet street a few minutes walk to all major attractions."

"Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. At the time we stayed there was some work being done but this did not impact on our enjoyment. The buffet breakfast is good if it's included in your package or you're a IHG member, and a great way to fill up on a range of fruit, breads, cheese and ham (if that's your thing), cereals and cooked continental breakfast. For those with dietary requirements staff were happy to fetch us gluten free cereals and toast (just need to ask). The hotel was otherwise clean, and the rooms were properly cleaned each day. We were fans on the room accoutrements, the soaps and lotions were good quality and felt nice, a range of coffee and tea bags, and walkers short bread cookies (might sound silly but we have found the quality of the cookie often reflects the hotels overall approach to quality in other areas). The hotel bar is up against a lot of competition in Edinburgh so it shouldn't be your first choice for a dram, but if you want a quiet night cap in a stylish room you can also find something here. Small notes for travelers: while you can book a taxi the hotel does not do any shuttle services. The hotel can arrange dry cleaning (must provide your stuff by 9am) but this is not general washing (you'll need to head to a laundromat for your general clothing wash)."

"Superb stay here the weekend before Christmas. My first time in Edinburgh and I really felt at home here which I can only thank the staff for. Quality of breakfast was great, the sleep was peaceful and the care and the facilities were very clean. The walk to town was no more than 15 minutes and it’s a very intuitive route to follow. Thanks to everyone at the Crowne Plaza for an incredible stay. We’re still here and we already miss it!"

"Everything about this hotel was great! The location is great, not too far from old town but quiet. Few minutes walk from Carlton hill, where you can see the whole city, amazing views. Very clean, not too expensive! Tasty breakfast! Everyone very helpful, receptionists and amazing barman Diego! Would definitely recommend and go back if travelling to Edinburgh again."
