"Absolutely lovely experience dealing with the senior receptionist (Audrey?), both on the telephone and face to face when we checked in. We were having a tough day, but the interaction with her really put a smile on our faces. Thank you. Next the hotel itself. Not a horror story by any means, but we were disappointed with a few aspects (similar aspects which have already been mentioned by previous guest reviews). 1. Room temperature - we found it stifling. There was no way to lower the temperature or get any ventilation. Quite uncomfortable. 2. Shower - the water pressure was very low, the water temperature was warm but not hot, and we didn't like the fixed shower head. 3. Bed - we were originally placed in room 122. However, the mattress on one side of the double was sinking badly - there was clearly something wrong with it and it needed replaced. We were moved swiftly to adjacent room 120 by the senior (and still very friendly) senior receptionist. In summary, the best aspect of the stay was the individual staff member and the location which was next to the Meadows and on a bus route."
"My girlfriend and I stayed for one night (Sunday 12th February) the car park is small, with less spaces than rooms! We found a spot no problem. There is a £10 fee for the car park! Later that evening there appeared to be no spaces left! First impressions were positive with the hotel looking good from the outside, and a very nice reception area inside. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist, she proceeded to explain the breakfast times. Also she announced we’d been upgraded to an executive suit which we thought was a great touch. We entered the room (235) and both impressed by the size, the decor and the cleanliness of the room. The hotel is a walkable distance to the city, with a good few eating and drinking options close by. On the night of our visit the bar closed early due to it being so quiet! We were told as residents we could get drinks 24 hours but we had to take our drinks to the lounge area of the reception! This was ok, but not ideal. During the night I slept well, however my girlfriend was kept awake by a washing machine hitting the spin cycle more than once throughout the night. She also didn’t find the bed comfortable (I did & I slept like a baby *her words, not mine*. We had breakfast on the Monday morning there was plenty of choice, the service was efficient and friendly. We both really enjoyed everything we ate. We would definitely return to this hotel should we visit Edinburgh in the future!"
"The staff was excellent. The room bed was comfortable, I would recommend adding a small fridge to put some drinks. The bathroom shower had a lot of mold and some of the pillowcases had yellow stains. At night the curtains/ the door had like few inches off the floor and the light will come through straight in your face. One of the main things is the first floor had a big rain stain on the carpet and the hall smells very very bad. Needs to be repaired. Definitely will recommend the breakfast good as the prices. If you are driving to Edinburgh space is limited at the hotel and the charge is £10 per day. 15 min walk to the main attractions, safe at night."
"Lovely hotel, nice big clean room. We had the cooked breakfast and it was really nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar was good and we ate dinner here twice, food was great. Bus stop right outside but to be honest we just walked everywhere we found it quicker than the bus."
"Great hotel with very helpful and friendly service. The staff were all willing to go the extra mile to help out with my queries. The room was great, the only issue was having two TVs and one remote so they both went on at the same time on different channels which was noisy but simply unplugging the one I wasn't using worked. Complementary dressing gown and slippers were also provided in the room with refreshments including bottled water and hot drinks. Would be back!"
