"Amazing place for a swim. It is protected by a small cliff so you don't get too much wind. Fairly easy to access. You can go for a shower at the leisure center in town before returning to Sligo if you want to. Great."
"Very beautiful. You can swim in the sea here and it's quite safe."
"At high tide an amazing swimming experience, and at low an even better view."
"Great spot, been coming here for decades at this point. It's a small inlet where you are protected from the waves of the Atlantic ocean, but because it's part of the ocean you get clean, fresh water there (volume of the water will vary depending on the tides of course). Mid to high tide is the best time to experience it, during spring tides the water can go all the way out and be totally empty in Bishop's Pool! It is a natural place so it can be filled with seaweed or other marine creatures depending on lots of things including whether a storm has just ripped through. There are areas of relative flatness to set down your things and be comfortable but you should bring a matt/blanket (or several) as there is no place on the rocks that is super comfortable (they are rocks and they are pointy). There are small spaces to park just above Bishop's Pool so if you are driving then you can go early to get a space, there are no lines here so it can be a bit of a free for all. Otherwise you can park your car in the village and walk to it, taking in the views as you go. Just beyond Bishop's Pool in the ocean proper you can swim and snorkel to your hearts content. There are no massive riptides there but the ocean will come and go with the tides and it is exposed. If there are big waves crashing there? Give it a miss for your own sake. You can fish off to the left of Bishop's Pool (about 50 meters) where you can catch Mackerel and Pollock but be careful in big swells as they can come much further up the rocks than you think. Overall, Bishop's Pool is a lovely place to experience, swim in the sea and enjoy the crashing waves on the reef protecting this wee area. It is not the most comfortable place in the world but it is raw and pure. Keep it that way and take home all your rubbish at the end of your trip as there are no bins."
