"I used to use the pool here all the time and would have said it's the best in the area. I wouldn't say that anymore. Pool changing rooms are dirty, cold and smell mouldy, on top of that, none of the showers work properly. The pool itself has stick on nails, plasters and other debris on the bottom, it's also quite cold, even for someone in there to swim laps. However, the worst part is, on my last two visits, I have had to leave early due to other pool users. On my last visit, there were people throwing floats all around the pool environment, knocking signs over and nearly hitting me as well as getting lots of floats in my way when I was trying to swim. They were also shouting profanities at each other for the whole duration of my stay. I tried to mention it to the man at the desk but he was quite dismissive. I have found that as a woman, this pool no longer feels like a safe place to be. And I would urge people with young children not to bring them swimming here. This used to be somewhere I went to relax and workout after work, I won't be going here anymore."
"This is home away from home. The comfort level is 10 out 10. Beautiful areas to sit and relax, have a coffee or a drink and read a book by the fire while catching some amazing views. The food is always amazing here especially the fish and chips which is my firm favourite. Every single member of staff is so helpful and polite. It's quite and relaxing. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. I was very impressed with the spa, and the treatments they provide. Try the seaweed baths, your skin feels amazing after."
"This hotel is rated at 4 star, perhaps that was the original rating when it was opened a v long time ago. Firstly on the positives because there are not many; 1. V friendly staff 2. Clean rooms Now for the negatives: 1. Food in the restaurant for dinner was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We were a table of 10 and 3 of my family had to send their dinners back as inedible. 2. The sauce that came with the spicy wings looked like it was made 10 years ago and curdled 3. Kids menu basic beyond believe with chips triple refried, cold and burnt 4. Smelly, damp old fashioned dining area 5. Staff almost looked embarrassed at the food they were serving actually felt bad for them. Kitchen needs an overhaul and ‘chefs’ replaced with actually professionals 6. Bedrooms smelt like stale cigarettes 7. Swimming pool, old, dirty and absolutely freezing 8. Breakfast buffet v poor selection. No fresh fruit, alternative milks, eggs were inedible This hotel needs serious investment or needs to close down. Wouldn’t give a €1 to the owners who think this is an acceptable level of accommodation in this day and age in Ireland As I say the staff are doing the best they can given the circumstances but absolutely deplorable hotel."
"I hadn't stayed here before but on leaving both my wife and I agreed that it a place we would revisit. I let reception know that the water in hot tap in the bedroom was extremely hot and in their own interest it would be advisable to check it out. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. The evening food in the bar was fine but as I am very allergic to eggs it is getting more and more difficult to get an egg free meal. However we weren't left hungry."
