"First time staying there last night. I had a fantastic experience. Helpful yet professional staff. Answered all my questions positively. Hotel was immaculate throughout. Everything works as it should. Impressive modern features. Highly recommend. Thanks"
"Stayed here because of a training I was attending next day. Hotel was easy to reach from train station. Check in and check out were smooth, was recognized as an Gold Elite IHG member. Room was clean with comfy bed. Had dinner which I enjoyed. Staff were all very friendly, helpful and attentive. Breakfast was a typical Express that was more than enough. Highly recommended"
"I think for what you pay, it’s in line with the expectations. Reading the reviews, I almost didn’t want to leave one as it’s pretty clear that between Barbara and Sharon they run the joint and set their own standards instead of those of the company. Unless you leave a positive one you just get told why what you’ve written is wrong. Some of the responses from staff are very abrupt, rude and unprofessional. I’m surprised it doesn’t come from a more corporate level or get questioned. Not very customer focussed. In any case, the room was clean and well presented. The hotel smells quite strongly of smoke though, on the second floor, with it’s guests very obviously smoking cannabis here too. I’m sure I’ll get shot down for saying that with some abrupt response like “not sure what you expect us to do about that”, but I guess trying to enforce the no smoking law would some what would help. The how is for you to work out. The wait for someone to tend the bar was quite long, a number of times I was waiting 5 or more minutes, again, I’m sure I’ll have some rude response here. To be clear it wasn’t busy, just understaffed. The restaurant/bar/seating area is nothing short of disgusting. Half of the seats had food remains on them, crumbs, stains, sauces etc; with tables not been regularly cleared and lots of the seats showing heavy wear. Investment and attention is needed here. The breakfast was awful. The sausages we’re that over cooked or perhaps had been sat in the holder for too long, until this morning I have never seen anyone peel a sausage. The bacon was similar. We sat down at 0700, not like it was the end of service. There is cereal, which I had, you can’t really go wrong with cereal. Be wary, but I think you get what you pay for."
"Room was very clean and bed was so comfy. The staff where really friendly and helpful. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend. On the downside which needs some improvements. The fact that as a coach trip customer we where only offered 2 choices of meal of a chilli or hunter’s chicken. Most of the plates where left hardly touched so standard speaks for itself. Kids where only offered 1 choice. . The chicken was dry and overcooked the sauce had evaporated. The breakfast was ok and adequate for the day. The staff in the restaurant where very nice and as my companion is gluten-free she was looked after and happy with her meal. I would advise that you give the kitchen staff better quality food to serve for the evening meal and deliver earlier in the evening instead of 7.30 at night. Possibly the food was prepared too early so just make a the service time earlier????"
"The actual hotel and stay is good. The welcoming by staff at reception could be improved by welcoming guests. On arrival, 3 members of staff was on reception, had to wait app. 90 seconds. A member of staff known to be Sharon just asked "What's your name, love" was her actual words. No welcoming with Good afternoon. On a guest view, this was not nice and welcoming at all. Otherwise hotel would have got a higher rating."
