"I thought this was a really good choice of hotel for a one night stay. As soon as you walk into the room, the necessities are all there for you. An ironing board with the iron if needed, a hairdryer, a cosy bathroom corner (with a socket for the electric toothbrushes!) and a decent view depending on the room you’re given. For me, it was just a bunch of dead trees outlooking McDonald’s (only a three or so minute walk!). My only partial negative is the fact it’s opposite a major road, meaning any kind of random loud car noise might wake you if you’re a light sleeper, however in my experience it was fairly quiet during the night! A few bottles/cans of beverages or something would be a nice future addition instead of tap water, but overall I’m sure very cold water is better than none at all. Overall, the politeness of staff and the tidiness of room is what would personally make HIE a first choice in future for me as a first time anywhere."
"Stayed her for two nights while showing our dogs at Crufts. Amazing for a hotel to allow so many dogs to stay in the hotel, however be aware they charge £10 per dog per night. The hotel itself seems to be located on what is the local drag/race strip with many cars revving their engines up late into the evening. Inputting your car details at check in can also be a bit of a nightmare despite staffs helpful support, apparently fines are issued regularly for those who don’t fill it in daily despite being able to input a multi night stay (we were advised to just in case). The hotel is fine, nothing special, beds were actually very comfortable and clean. We were allocated three accessibility rooms which are larger than the normal rooms I believe. The bathrooms are dated, cracked tiles, loose shower curtain and rusted grab rails. The rooms were directly next to the main staircase which is incredibly noisy! You can hear every step and people talking all throughout the night. The rooms upstairs would also appear to be lacking in sound proofing as you can easily hear people just walking around the rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially at breakfast. Breakfast has a good amount of options that you would expect at a standard breakfast buffet style offering. The orange and apple juice machine however, might as well be a water machine due to the shear dilution of the juice. Overall I think the staff and comfort of the bed are what gave the hotel this rating. I don’t think it’s worth what was charged generally as I’ve stayed in better hotels for the same, sometimes less."
"Nice hotel in a good location. Our room was huge, a little bit rough around the edges decor wise but perfectly fine for what you expect with a holiday inn. Beds were okay (two singles pushed together is always a bit annoying) and bathroom was clean. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good. They had a separate area for gluten free breakfast with cereal and toast which was great for me. Location was good being walking distance from Star City amenities."
"Good hotel with free parking. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Only problem is we didn't realise they don't have electric vehicle charging yet like most Holiday Inn Expresses. So we would probably choose another location next time as it is convenient to charge the car overnight."
"Fantastic service. I regularly travel across the UK but this was my first stay at this holiday inn. For me, working in hospitaly for a number of years has raised the bar for what is expected when it comes to customer service. It is safe to say the staff at star city Holiday Inn are fantastic. Customer service is about providing the best experience and that is exactly what I got. Thank you to Ramsha, Tina and her team for being so accommodating. I will be back in Birmingham in a couple of weeks and I will certainly re-book for the same hotel."
