Reviews
"Friendly, accommodating venue. Went above and beyond our expectations. Would definitely recommend this venue for functions, large spacious room, staff proffesional and friendly."
"I first approached the door, and the door handle was hanging off its hinges. We were told that a handyman would show show 5 but didn't show. The water in our room turned brown, the room looked aesthetically worrying with plenty of stains and wallpaper inadequacies. The bathroom looked rather dismal along with the aforementioned brown water. Gummy bears were left beside my sister's bed. And I didn't feel comfortable in the room I was in. Overall, this stay was very disappointing!"
"Recently The Saltley Inn has added bed and breakfast to their portfolio. It used to be a kind of “working mans club” named Saltley amateur gardeners club . However it’s now The Saltley Inn and seems to have revamped. The staff are all new and it’s not a members only club now . It seems much busier than it used to be and the clientele has changed to include a much younger range of customers. There are many promotions on , karaoke nights , Halloween parties , bonfire night parties , weekend barbecues to name but a few . I haven’t used the bed and breakfast service myself but it seems to be very popular."
"I understand that the economic situation has business feeling the pinch. The manager was very polite and helpful the hotel advertised as ensuite.. No tea/coffee facility the room and hotel was absolutely freezing... No food available and the noise in the hotel from returning guests kept you awake. Location was good for local transport and close to the M6 5mins away. You have to pay £50.00 returnable deposit for damages before check in."
"Budget should mean basic and no frills, not dirty and no manners. On arriving the lady who ran it was friendly and informative, and then it went downhill so fast we were lost for words. We got there early so knew the room wouldn't be ready which was fine so we were happy to have a drink in the bar whilst waiting. The secure on site parking they advertise is a joke but we did manage to get a space in the tiny yard out back. We were told our room was ready shortly after so off we went. It wasn't ready, it hadn't been touched. Apologies accepted we returned to the bar and waited until it was. The bed had been changed, the fresh towels and toiletries were laid out and then the cleaner must've decided that was done. It was otherwise filthy. Hairs in the shower tray, sweet wrapper on bedside table, dust everywhere, nothing had been wiped down. The basic furniture and outdated decor wasn't a problem, it was a budget room. We went into Birmingham for the day returned in the evening for a couple of drinks. A birthday party was in full swing with disco and was a good atmosphere. We stopped thinking this when the disco was still going at 2am and we were trying to sleep above it in a bed that was so uncomfortable it felt like bare springs. We finally survived the night and went down for breakfast. The staff were so ignorant and unapproachable it was unbelievable. Not even a good morning. We had ordered breakfast the night before yet they ran out of sausages. They said they would replace with extra bacon and they didn't. When asked, the young waitress replied " I don't know ill ask" she came back with the last breakfast for our party of 4 and didn't answer me. The toast had been toasted by by showing it to the radiator on one side then smothered with some sort of luminous yellow margarine. The egg was so battered it looked like it had been out with us the night before. There was one sausage that appeared on my partners plate but I think it had been found on the floor and dropped into the deep fat fryer for a quick warm through. All staff were unhelpful, no smiles, no communication and they made you feel like you were asking for the earth. It took 20 mins of standing at bar to get a coffee and no one else was waiting. We asked if we could check out and get our £50 cash deposit back and we're told " no I'm cooking breakfast". When we did manage to get it back a young girl ran up to check we hadn't thrown the TV that didn't work out of the window and we hadn't caused any other damage before returning the money. She failed to notice the 2 personal items I had forgotten so not sure what room she went in. Just as we thought that nothing else could go wrong we found our car was blocked in. Staff really not helpful and it took another hour for them to find ( they didn't look) the staff member who's car it was. Please believe the bad reviews, the good ones must be from friends and family. These people should not be in hospitality. They have zero customer service skills and no desire or passion in their jobs. It has the potential to be a really lovely place but they need some serious help."
