"My partner and myself booked into the Connaught inn because it is in a prime location so convenient for the town centre, upon arrival we were met by Andrew a really nice chap who was very helpful the room we were allocated was not very hygienic however a lot of cob webs were on the ceiling and the cold tap was bent at a 45 degree angle, our room had a dirty carpet, the evening meal however was lovely really nice food, Breakfast is included in the price however when we went down for breakfast the chef hadn't turned up and the lady who was looking after us could only offer toast and as she said" I am not the chef I am just trying to wing it" so my advice would be don't ask for room 8 and make sure the chef turns up for Breakfast"
"outside of apartment looked ok and check in was fine.however when i was shown apartment use of TV (which did not work not able to get signal even when we enquired 3 times at the Inn). Kitchen equipment was not suitable for 4 guests, not enough glasses, dishes, plates, and utensils that were in the draw were not cleaned. dishwasher was not emptied before we arrived.there was no washing up liquid, teatowel, which we had to buy.waste bin had 1 bag and no lid on bin, fridge was not very clean either .Sofa's were not clean and one of the seats not comfortable to sit on as it had collasped. Bedrooms windows did not close tight front bedroom ceiling light and bedside light not working,no mirror in room and 3 coathangers in wardrobe. Bed room 2 bedside light lead to short to plug into wall socket,no mirror, coathangers or chair. finally the bathroom upstairs was not clean. towel rail and toilet roll holder both broke.light over mirror not working, shower head broke. extractor fan not working and worse TOILET SEAT VERY DIRTY and coming apart (even this was reported 2 months before by other guests)AND WOULD NEED REPLACED,(espically since Covid-19 precautions) Small toilet downstairs fairly clean. area good for visiting"
"Stayed at the connaught for 5 days last week. The rooms could have done with some T.L.C but on the whole they were clean, the food was excellent and the lady who served us in the morning called Fiona was fabulous she could not do enough for us she was very friendly and had a great sense of humour. The inn was situated very conveniently to every thing we wanted. So we enjoyed our stay."
"Unexpectedly, this is a great place. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere here. I have been to 33 countries. But only here I ate the best cheeseburger! Thank you. Highly recommend."
"Layer of dust on blinds in bar. The room and bathroom need so much money invested into it. There was a layer of dust on the bed frame. Bathroom was in very poor condition. Paint peeling off in the shower. The fan was so disgusting. Rush on the basin accessories. Toilet seat chipped. Tiles cracked. It really was painful staying in this kind of place. There was no warm or hot water. It made showering unbearable. We heard other customers the following morning complaining of same. No toiletries even though they were advertised. Zero view. There was some kind of unit outside the window that blocked everything. The room was very cold on arrival. It took a while to heat with very dated storage heating. Good points so it shows I'm being fair Good food. Really good dinners. The breakfast was included and was nice. Staff were super friendly. Good pint of Guinness. Plenty of towels. Good location."
