"So nice! Really good food, had oysters to start and steak for main and both were gorgeous! Also the wine was really good too. We were a group of 9 and everyone was super happy. Would definitely recommend!"
"A small intimate restaurant in the centre of castle bar. Made a last minute reservation. Was warmly welcomed when we arrived. The restaurant itself is very small but decorated beautifully. There was no physical menu. The food options where written on a board on the wall. The meat we had was cooked to our liking and tasted delicious. Sides served with the meals complimented them very well. Very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend visiting this spot."
"Went here last weekend and had a fabulous meal with my wife. Really nice menu. Lots of Fish and other dishes. my wife had the Hake and prawns which was a generous portion and I had the Belly pork with Scallops. Seen the beef also and looked great. Really Delicious food, service was good and Wine was reasonably priced, we had the cheese board for Afters. Overall a top class meal and we really need to support these guys . Definitely will go again."
"We randomly came across Bistrot 1798 while looking for an early dinner in Castlebar. We didn’t know what to expect, but we were blow away by this bijou restaurant. It’s definitely the best dining experience we have had since moving to the west from Dublin. Marzena is so warm and welcoming with good humour. The menu is primarily fish and seafood with other options including steak or lamb shank. The menu isn’t extensive which we found great as sometimes an endless listing can leave you indecisive. We opted for the mussels for starters including the oysters, they were so delicious and fresh, plus the portion size was more then we expected for a starter. For mains we had the lobster Thermidor and smoked salmon/ avocado salad with brioche. The lobster melts in your mouth and the salad perfectly dressed. We opted for the Rose wine which was firm and not too sweet. To finish we had the creme brûlée which was to die for with a strawberry sorbet. The food that Michel puts out is outstanding and this great place really serves to be on anyone dining list in Castlebar. We’ll definitely be making this place a regular."
