"Caravan site is basic enough. Has a sandpit for kids, showers, campers kitchen etc. It's what's on your doorstep that makes this place special. Westport house is a 2 minute walk, Westport harbour is a 5 minute walk, Westport town is 15 minute walk. Our kids had a ball, Pirate adventure park is brilliant along with the swan boats and forest train. It's a really well run facility , we will definitely be back"
"Great campering experience. The campsite was fantastic and the facilities were spotless. The staff working in the site were very friendly and professional. The security personnel on site were extremely helpful and made the place feel safe and secure. I do agree with other reviews that it is expensive for campering but I do believe that it is worth the money due to the cleanliness and safety of the property."
"It's not a bad spot purely due to its proximity & surroundings, but not a great camping site. I'd imagine it would be a better place in the warmer months but nothing additional to a layby on offer in April to justify the price charged for a pitch, most of the staff around Westport House seemed nice just don't think that any were assigned to the campsite, apart from collecting fees and issuing tags. The toilet block was pretty bad the few days we stayed. 2 broken toilets and the 3 others were very badly stained from some slurry spreaders which would have needed a chisel to get off as it was there so long and the amount of slugs in every shower cubicle which I had to clean away so kids would get showers. We ended up using the onboard instead after. Again, it's probably an April issue, but I stayed in 4 locations this trip, and this was the only site that had such slug problems. We do plan another trip over this direction, so we might give it another try in summer as others have told me of better experiences. Maybe we just visited on a bad week for them."
"Campsite is ok but quite expensive at 36 euro per night for a motorhome. Additional paths required to ensure everybody has proper access to the facilities. There is no WiFi and phone coverage in general is very poor. About 20 minute walk to Westport town so quite convenient. Lots of walks in the area and close to Westport House. Lidl supermarket about 15 min. walk."
"Great camping spot relative to proximity of the bustling and lively town of Westport. Bit early at night telling people to be quiet, when being quiet. If they were able to somehow get an area were people are ok with a later noise reduction even by an hour or so. Have been camping in EU and their experience is amazing. Do better Ireland, cmon Westport camping"
