"A pleasant setting despite being in the city, and the fact that it sits alongside the mainline railway and the A500. Takes about 20-30 mins to walk around depending on your pace, but I wouldn't rush because it's so peaceful. Has a visitor's center and a large (free!!) Car park. Easily accessible from the canal."
"Beautiful lake, there's a cafe where you can choose to sit in or outside on the balcony. There are bikes for hire or ride your own round the lake, there are nature walks and you can buy bird food to feed the birds. You can walk round the lake or along the Cannal. There are swings for the little ones and an ice-cream van on a weekend in the summer. The free car park can get pretty full on a nice weekend."
"I've spent many happy hours here as a child when the venue opened in the early 70's, then it was a fun kids play area where you could jump off the jetty into the water and tons of sand was brought in to make a beach. Those days there seemed little concern for the local wildlife! Nowadays the area is much improved and a very welcome nature sanctuary and reserve, much time and effort has been spent on nurturing the lake park into what it is today. Westport Lake has a large car park but in very busy periods finding a spot may be nigh on impossible. The venue benefits from a large children's playground and a Superb visitor centre. There are many paths around the two lakes mostly on flat ground to enjoy a stroll!"
