"I brought my kids here for swimming lessons, travelled from the opposite end of stoke to get there and find the instructor hasn't even turned up and my kids were just sitting there at the side of the pool watching the other kids swim as he couldn't look after all the kids on his own. This should have been mentioned before we brought them to the lessons to save us a wasted journey. Would not recommend this place for kids swimming lessons unless you want to be massively let down."
"I have been member for a 5 months now. Great equipment, friendly staff. My reason for joining the gym was swimming pool and jacuzzi. Pool seems like it needs water changing more often and jacuzzi often out of order. Membership is not cheap compare to other places. Wish they could improve this as overall great gym with good classes..."
"Horrendous place.Avoid at all costs! Final straw was going into the steam room to find 4 or 5 people shaving!!! Spoke to a member of staff when I could find someone who shrugged their shoulders. Every man and his dog let in on a free day pass or a special offer when I pay full whack as a “valued” member for substandard equipment and filthy changing rooms. Told me I could cancel them return when another offer came on. I cancelled and will not return!!!! Tried to speak to the manager on several occasions but she was either doing her hair, laughing with staff or on her phone - poor attitude, rude and zero customer service skills. Spoke to David who had more about him and at least was polite. Finally managed to cancel over the phone and joined Fit4less which runs rings around DW despite it being a smaller gym. Staff are engaging, helpful and the men’s changing rooms even smell fresh!! A couple of the classes were good with Susie I think her name was but other than that absolutely diabolical. Save your money and drive on by as there are several gyms in the area that are heads above this one."
"After being a member at Pure Gym for a few years I've decided to go for DW as it is closer and the new layout of Pure Gym near Hanley is not only intimidating, but completely lacks in equipment, meaning you struggled to get on a treadmill on most visits. After a free 3 day trial I have now signed up for a 12 month contract. There's plenty of free machines as it generally isn't as busy. There's not as many people there 'just for show' or for socialising. Most people in the gym are there to work out and properly use the facilities. I've already been more times in 2 weeks than I did pure gym in 6 months. There's a lot of negative reviews about the staff but this seems to be historical, as everyone I have spoken to so far is friendly. Only loses a star as some equipment seems to be broken and no signs of repair happening yet. Which is a shame for the price of membership vs other local gyms."
"Not worthy of even the minimum 1 star I am forced to give. Expensive membership for sub-standard facilities. Pool area really dirty and jacuzzi and/or sauna often out of order. Large turnover of staff and unable to keep a manager for more than a few months. This alone sets the alarm bells ringing. After being a member for 6+ years I have seen a massive decline in both standards and service. Customer service is non-existent and pool is often being used as a splash pool by the younger members. It is supposed to be a fitness pool!!! Needless to say, I am not going to be a member for much longer. Save your money."
