"We were given a lovely Irish welcome by a couple who take a real pride in what they do. They made us very, very comfortable!"
"Our family of four spent 3 nights here. It really was not the greatest. Its old, shabby and musty. Our room was upstairs, the bedding seemed clean and the double bed I slept in was comfy but the bed bases were tattered and torn and the beds were very noisy. Every time someone turned over they squeaked and bumped and woke me up. We only had one normal sized pillow each and then numerous silly small scatter cushions which just got in the way. The en suite bathroom smelt of urine and had pathetically weak shower pressure. It also had a grubby shower curtain. The toilet paper was industrial sized rolls and they were just randomly stacked. The underside of the toilet lid was dirty. Our room was cleaned on morning 1 but on morning 2 I told the host that my kids were having a sleep in and asked if she could clean the room after 12h30 (that was when we were leaving to go watch some rugby). She said that was fine and then when we came back from the rugby later that evening imagine our horror of finding our room NOT CLEANED. Unmade beds. Overflowing dutbins. Wet towels everywhere. She told her husband she "forgot" to clean it. Not good enough. Neither of our hosts (a married couple) introduced themselves. They did not tell us about breakfast times properly. They did not tell us about tea or coffee available in the breakfast room. The husband didn't even know that Ireland was playing an international rugby match and confessed to never have even been to see the Ring of Kerry. I think hosts need to at least be knowledgeable about their own country! But I am getting off track. The lounge with the TV in was run down and shabby with broken, torn furniture. At breakfast the yoghurt I ate had expired and past its eat by date. The cereals weren't even decanted into glass jars. They were stacked in a row in their boxes. One box was even empty. The dusbin in the dining room was not emptied. The dining room was small and cramped and uncomfortable. The juice ran out and no one refilled it. I could go on and on. It really was the worst place we stayed in during our 8 night trip. Dun Laoghaire is a pretty village with a quaint high street and its conveniently situated close to Aviva Stadium. You can catch the train straight to the stadium and a few more stops will deliver you right into Tara Station and the heart of Dublin. This guest house has a lot of potential but I feel that the hosts are just going through the motions and have no interest in running a top class establishment. Would we stay here again? Never. But we would stay in Dun Laoghaire again, just never at Claremont House."
"It was a lovely stay. Room was immaculate, bed comfy. The breakfast was excellent. We wanted a welcoming place to stop, we found it."
"The owners were lovely and the Room was very nice. And the breakfast was better than what I was expecting. Set not to far away from the dart train station which is the best way to get around easily."
"Very nice hosts, but the guesthouse is in need of a refurb. Bathroom shabby, and beds old. Nice area and quiet house. Breakfast ends strictly at 9.00 which is a nuisance if on a relaxing break"
