"AVOID THE CLINIC. The reason I went there was the information outside “NHS patient welcome”. I thought they were part of NHS. They were not! I went to the dentist because for a few years I have been suffering from migren pains etc and i knew it’s something to do with my teeth. Instead of send the referral to the hospital they kept offering me a different private treatments. I decided to go to Europe and ask 2 different dentist for their opinion. I was told I suffer from an open occlusion and needed to be seen by orthodontist. I decided to go to the City Health Clinic and asked for the referral ( I had been offered AGAIN private invisible braces which is pointless IN MY CASE) The referral has been sent. After a few days the receptionist called me to inform me my referral was rejected. I asked her if she knew why? she did not and OFFERED ME THE PRIVATE TREATMENT AGAIN WHICH WAS NOT needed, I decided to call to the hospital and find out why my referral was rejected- after the covid they did not have more spaces and they told me to ask my dentist for the referral to the edinburgh orthodontist not the hospital. I was told my dentist cannot referred me to anywhere any longer and I was offered a private treatment again. The are really focusing on money. PLEASE avoid this place!!!"
"Where do I start... The dentist I got was dreadful. I'm an NHS patient and she kept giving me private prices and basically insisting nothing can be done on NHS. This includes expensive scale and polish that she claimed couldn't be done on NHS (it can be) because it was "for aesthetic reasons". I care for health not aesthetic so I refused it. Turns out I needed it because the stuff on my teeth was hiding a few cavities. I got quoted private prices, specifically told by this woman that I can give it a thought and choose another option at the next appointment only for her to huff when I didn't want the 300£ private treatment that "I agreed on last time" The wait times were over 2 months at one point. By the time I got the first appointment to fix my teeth 4 months later, I'd have already done most of the work while visiting home for holidays so I didn't mind too much. I had to ask for months to check my front tooth, only to be told I can't have white filling on NHS on my upper second tooth??? I generally struggled to get any information out of her and ended up asking to change the dentists. I got sent to Dr Haris who was far more open and willing to answer questions. He made an appointment for me only for that appointment to be with a dental specialist. I asked about one of my teeth and was told it wasn't on the plan. I was frustrated because I've been asking to fix it for months and it went from a small cavity to being very painful cavity. Instead of explaining she meant it wasn't on the plan for that particular appointment, she brought a manager who basically told me I kept refusing to work with any dentist for unknown reasons. Talking badly about a senior dentist in front of her colleagues made me very uncomfortable and I tried to not give too much info, but the manager didn't catch on to how inappropriate she was being. She also kept berating me like a child, telling me I keep refusing treatments so she doesn't know what to do, to which I informed her I've had all my treatments done, just by another dentist who is cheaper, faster and more trustworthy back home. She told me I can't do that because the dentists don't know what to do then? She kept going until I was in tears of embarrassment and frustration. 0 stars without Dr. Haris, who is the only saving grace at this terrible clinic. Doing almost all my dental work without anesthetic for 25 years didn't give me anxiety of dentists- this clinic did."
"Most of the treatment are done by the dental hygienist. Difficult to get hold of an appointment especially for children. I had 3 disappointing teeth cleaning there and I end up with sensitive teeth and the stains are still there to push me for more expensive procedure. They push for cosmetics more than the health and care of your actual teeth. I"
"CHC have been more than amazing. They signed me up with relatively little difficulty over 2020 while no other dentist were taking new patients, always manage to find me a reasonably timed appointment, calmly explain and re-explain my options if I didn't understand, and have helped me out of pain multiple times. As someone who has anxiety and communication difficulties, I usually find a lot of difficulty seeking medical help; not one member of the CHC staff has ever made me feel unintelligent, unwelcome, or uncomfortable. Thank you all so much not only helping me out of pain, but also easing my anxieties. I'm couldn't be more grateful :)"
