Peterhead Kindergarten is a highly regarded establishment located in Hastings, New Zealand. As a point of interest and school, we pride ourselves on valuing our tamariki (children) as taonga (treasure) with unlimited potential. Our dedicated teachers work closely with both tamariki and whānau (family) to understand each child's unique learning journey and their family's aspirations for them.

At Peterhead Kindergarten, we strive to create an atmosphere of calm, where our tamariki can learn about their emotions through supported interactions with each other on a daily basis. We believe in the importance of fostering strong relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi, and the wider community. Over the years, we have been fortunate to witness multiple generations of whānau walk through our doors, developing longstanding relationships with the Flaxmere community.

We have established close ties with Te Whai Hiringa and Peterhead School, providing weekly visits for tamariki who are transitioning to start school there. As an Enviroschool, we have a strong focus on the Atua (guardians) in our environment and strive to provide a sustainable Kindergarten. Our tamariki actively participate in activities such as tending to our maara kai (vegetable garden), collecting eggs from our chickens, recycling, and looking after our worm farm. They have ample space filled with trees to explore and learn in a peaceful environment.

Peterhead Kindergarten is more than just a school - it is a homely environment where daily meals are prepared and children's interests are catered for. We prioritize relationships and aroha (love) above all else, with our guiding pou (pillars) values of Manaakitanga (hospitality), Kaitiakitanga (guardianship), Whakamana (empowerment), and Whakaako (teaching and learning) underpinning everything we do.
