Welcome to Sophie Jean Dance Company, a premier dance institution located in Hastings, Miller Street, New Zealand. We are an establishment of great interest, offering a wide range of dance classes for beginners to pre-professionals.

At Sophie Jean Dance Company, we believe in fostering a supportive and family-like environment, where strong values are instilled in our students. Our aim is to provide a genuine platform for creativity and expression, ensuring that our studio is welcoming, safe, and free of judgment.

We go above and beyond to provide our students with incredible opportunities, including overseas exchanges to learn from world-renowned choreographers and teachers. These experiences allow our students to broaden their horizons and expand their dance knowledge.

We understand that each student is unique, and we cater to their individual needs. For those who are working towards full-time courses, competitions, or greater achievements within the arts, we offer more advanced and in-depth training. However, we embrace the diversity of our students and ensure that every individual feels valued, regardless of their progression or training needs.

Sophie Jean Dance Company was founded in 2016 by Sophie herself. With a Bachelor of Dance Studies with Honours from the University of Auckland, Sophie brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the institution. She is currently teaching NCEA dance in secondary schools and working on a new choreography that will be performed at the Hawkes Bay Art's Festival.

Stacey, another talented member of our team, joined Sophie Jean Dance Company in 2019. With 26 years of dance experience and a diverse range of dance styles under her belt, Stacey adds a unique perspective to our institution. She has trained with prestigious dance teams and competed in world dance competitions, earning gold medals along the way. Stacey is passionate about providing a fun, inclusive, and inspiring dance education for all ages and levels.

In July 2018, a group of our senior dancers had the amazing opportunity to travel to Canada and attend a summer dance camp. They were exposed to various dance genres and formed lifelong friendships at the Mac Island Dance Studio. We are excited to continue these Canada dance trips as soon as it is safe to travel again, with our next trip planned for Toronto.
