About the Business
Welcome to Taikura Rudolf Steiner School, located in Hastings, New Zealand. Our school is dedicated to preserving and evolving the unique character of Rudolf Steiner education within the cultural, historical, educational, and geographic environment of Aotearoa.
At Taikura, we believe that the health and wellbeing of our school is fostered by a strong and engaged community. Students, parents, teachers, support staff, and Trustees come together to create a school and community spirit that provides a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
The name "Taikura" reflects the diverse currents that flow into our school. It signifies the strength and resilience that comes from many streams converging together. Our aim is to nurture each student's journey towards becoming free, responsible, and caring individuals who can find purpose and direction in their lives and contribute to society in unique and meaningful ways.
As Rudolf Steiner once said, "Receive the child in reverence, educate him in love, let him go forth in freedom." This quote encapsulates our approach to education, as we strive to create a warm and open-hearted environment where enthusiasm, courage, and a genuine interest in each other and the world thrive.
The Grapevine, our weekly publication, keeps our community connected and informed during term time. It is a valuable resource for staying up-to-date with school news and events.
The word "Tai" in Taikura represents movement and learning. It can be translated as currents, streams, or tides, symbolizing the ever-evolving nature of education. We embrace the diversity of cultural influences that converge at our school, fostering a vibrant and dynamic learning environment.
"Kura," on the other hand, can be interpreted as a red glow, a treasured possession, or a sanctum of learning. It also signifies the sacred ochre, symbolizing the birth of humanity and our responsibility as spiritual beings on a human journey. Our education aims to empower students to find their purpose and serve humanity while caring for our planet.
We invite you to explore our website and learn more about Taikura Rudolf Steiner School. Join us in creating a nurturing and inspiring educational experience for our students, preparing them for a future filled with possibilities.

"Great school grounds, love the vibes of the place. Love for nature, great people"
"Not a very nice place to send young children to. My daughter goes to the school and everyday is bullied by other kids ( punched, kicked, slapped. And tells me she cries all the time and hides from them. Parent and teacher have keen told of this and nothing done about it. Considering one of the girls is the teachers daughter. If it carries on I will be talking her out of this school and taking it futher."
