About the Business
Welcome to Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, located at 20 Cashel Street in Christchurch. As an establishment dedicated to health and wellbeing, we are a point of interest for those affected by blood cancer.
At Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, we believe it is time to give blood cancer our full attention. Our mission is to provide support, education, and resources to individuals and families impacted by this disease. We understand the challenges and emotions that come with a blood cancer diagnosis, and we are here to help every step of the way.
Our calendar for the coming year is filled with exciting events and important dates that we encourage you to mark in your diaries. These events aim to raise awareness, promote research, and provide a platform for those affected by blood cancer to come together and support one another.
We would like to share some personal stories that highlight the resilience and determination of individuals facing blood cancer. One individual recalls their diagnosis, saying, "She took me into the room and she sat me down with a haematologist. And they said, 'Yep. You've got cancer. It's a blood cancer.' Only certain people can cope with that. People who love you."
Another individual shares their hopes and dreams, stating, "I said, Alex β Do you think about dying?', and he said, 'Sometimes I do, when I'm dreaming. But, I want to live.'"
We understand the fear and uncertainty that can come with a blood cancer diagnosis. One person recalls their initial reaction, saying, "I was like, 'Excuse me? Is this a life-threatening disease?' And the doctor said, 'Yes, potentially.'"
At Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, we provide the latest news and publications to keep you informed about advancements in research, treatment options, and support services. We are dedicated to ensuring that you have access to the most up-to-date information available.
Furthermore, we are proud to support young researchers in their pursuit of finding a cure for blood cancer. We recently had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Ee Jin Goh, a medicine student at The University of Auckland and the 2021 recipient of our Summer Studentship grant. This grant allows talented individuals like Ee Jin to contribute to cutting-edge research and make a difference in the lives of those affected by blood cancer.
We invite you to explore our website, learn more about our organization, and discover the resources and support we offer. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those impacted by blood cancer.
