Titahi Bay Playcentre 6 Kura Street, Tītahi Bay, Porirua, Wellington 5022
About the Business
Welcome to Titahi Bay Playcentre, located at 6 Kura Street in Porirua, New Zealand. Our institution is not just a school or a point of interest, but a nurturing establishment that supports our tamariki (children) in becoming confident, competent, and self-directed learners through play. We believe that knowledge is gained through play, participation, and positive guidance.
At Titahi Bay Playcentre, we understand the importance of nurturing children's curiosity and creativity. That's why we provide a fun range of experiences that ensure no two days at Playcentre are the same. Through these experiences, our children develop nurturing and social skills that have lifelong benefits. We encourage siblings to attend together, allowing older children to mentor younger ones and practice empathy and caring.
Our whānau (family) is truly multicultural, with Māori, Pakeha, Samoan, Cook Island Māori, Filipino, Indian, French, and Brazilian members, among others. This diversity enriches our community and provides a unique learning environment for our children.
One of the key aspects of Titahi Bay Playcentre is the active involvement of parents in providing our children's learning programs. With a high adult to child ratio, we maintain a good balance between group and individual support during each session. This involvement not only supports our children's development but also helps parents develop new parenting and life skills.
Respect and a common focus allow us to move forward with the centre's goals and aspirations. We have strong relationships with the four primary schools in Titahi Bay, which allows us to arrange visits for children close to school age, share activities, and acclimatize them to primary school routines.
Titahi Bay Playcentre is truly one-of-a-kind. Thousands of kiwi children, and their parents too, have grown up with Playcentre. We invite you to visit us for three visits today (no need to book) and join in on the fun. As Dan and Rebekah Siave, parents of four, say, "It doesn't matter how old they get, we hope that our kids will always be Playcentre kids – fun-loving, creative, mess-making, out-of-the-box thinking, resilient, and kind."
But don't just take our word for it. Miriam, an eight-year-old Playcentre graduate, exclaims, "Playcentre is AWESOME!!! You get to make things, make friends, and play." Carraldo Fougere describes Titahi Bay Playcentre as a fabulous place with a great environment and facilities, where tamariki can have loads of fun and learn to interact with others. It's also a place for parents to meet and make lifelong friends, attend educational courses, and find support in their parenting journey.
Joel, a four-year-old, loves playing with his friends, Mummy, Daddy, and carpentry at Playcentre. Abbe Holmes, an ex-President of Playcentre, shares how Playcentre encouraged her family to come out of their shells and grow together as a community. Willow Forgeson, a Playcentre parent for nearly nine years, highlights the invaluable skills and fun experiences that Playcentre offers.
Jude Pointon sums it up perfectly: "Being involved in your child's preschool education means learning new skills, meeting wonderful people in your community, and making lifelong friends for yourself and your children."
