Our dedicated fundraising committee works tirelessly to provide additional resources and opportunities for our kindergarten.

One of the unique and innovative aspects of our programme is Bush Sprouts - Ngā Tipuranga o te Ngahere. Every week, our ten oldest children spend an entire kindergarten day immersed in the bush. Inspired by the philosophy of Forest Kindergarten, this experience offers open-ended opportunities for learning and challenges, fostering a genuine connection with the natural environment.

Another distinctive feature of our curriculum is our Te Ara Tātahi (beach) programme. Our next 30 oldest children embark on exciting adventures to our local beach, promoting a deep sense of care and ongoing relationship with nature. Our passionate kaiako (teachers) strive to create a culture of manaakitanga (care and kindness) between each other and the environment, instilling a sense of kaitiakitanga (guardianship) of our natural world. Through a robust induction process, our skilled kaiako develop children's social competence, ensuring they thrive in their learning environment.

Inclusive education is at the heart of Plimmerton Kindergarten. We value each child for who they are and believe they learn best when their individual skills and developmental levels are embraced. Working in partnership with whanau (families), we provide support for learners ranging from 2/3-year-olds to those transitioning to kura (primary school).
