"Purchased a lorikeet for my sons birthday. Paid deposit but couldn’t pick up for 10 days due to cage not arriving. I initially wanted to buy a cage from marketplace but owner of the shop advised it wasn’t a good idea incase the previous bird in there had a disease, our one can catch it. When I purchased the lori I was told it was hand breed & friendly with children. Upon picking her up, bird was in a dark room at the back of the shop, I asked why she was there and I was told, people kept asking to buy it! She was ferrell, the whole day; biting the kids, hissing at us, excessive screaming, not letting us go near her and not eating or drinking. We spent the entire afternoon interacting with her outside the cage, hand feeding her and showing her affection. Called an exotic bird vet and was told she may be traumatised, booking made with the vet (1 hour away), to have her checked."
