SaltCliff Cottage , County Clare

"I come away from a few days here with a very positive experience. Starting with the great website and easy booking process, paying the deposit and balance, making a last minute change, through to arriving and leaving, everything was smooth, professional, and easy. The house itself is in a great location, with lots of parking space. The selling point is the large living room with the view of Aran and the Twelve Bens off in the far distance. It would definitely suit 3 couples, or families, with each room being en suite. Yes, the en-suite are tight but not annoyingly so. Two kids to a bed with plenty of space! The beds and linen were spotless and notably comfortable. The staff had left some essentials like milk and butter, and some luxuries such as cheese, crackers, and smoked salmon. The Nespresso was a great and welcome surprise. Contrary to another review, I noted smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and a fire extenguisher and blanket. We didn't get to use the sheltered outdoor bbq area but I can easily imagine throwing some food on the grill with beers and chat into the wee hours."

"I can't understand why this place gets such positiv review. We were due to spend a week here. The general standard was disgraceful. The door of the fridge had no shelving, they had been broken. The oven was also faulty. The wardrobes in the bedrooms were inadequate, very small, less than a meter wide, no shelving. The ensuites were tiny, the wc right up against the shower. No shelving. The entire property and grounds were "tired". No smoke alarm, carbon monoxide monitor, fire blanket, etc......surely thats illegal. Outdoor barbeque area dirty and partially broken. Etc., etc., etc. How can anyone have the cheek to charge top rate for what is clearly substandard ? One positive point. We complained to the owners who offered us a discount or a full refund if we vacated the following day, which we did. In fairness, we have received our full refund. We were able to book in to a lovely accommodation later that day. Our party are all retired, and since C19, ( and before ) we have booked several holidays in our lovely country. This was, and has been, our only negative experience."

"We couldn’t have loved this cottage more! It’s absolutely beautiful. The inside is decorated beautifully, each bedroom has an en suite, the fridge was stocked with some breakfast items for our stay, and you can’t beat the view! We were sadly only there for two nights, but we are already planning our next trip back for an extended stay at the Saltcliff Cottage."
