"Please be aware that this host has a policy of reservations for breakfast. She cooks to her schedule, not to please her guests. If you have an airport reservation, as we did, she will not offer breakfast if she doesn't have a slot available. There is no reserving mechanism for breakfast on her website. The facility is on a well which means that the toilets require multiple flushes and the hot water in the shower runs out very quickly. The host is brusque when you arrive. We stayed in Ireland for a week at b and bs and this was the only one that insisted on a reservation system. It was odd and offputting."
"We returned to this fantastic country house for the fourth, maybe even fifth time on Friday 29 December 2017. The venue is fabulous and the grounds are nice and quiet. The beds are most comfortable to sleep in and the food in the morning is wonderful with plenty to choose from. The hosts couldn't be kinder or more accommodating to guests. Couldn't recommend this place more to anyone. Well worth a visit."
"My spouse and I stayed at Newlands for three nights. The B&B is set back off a country lane in a quiet agricultural area 15 minutes south of Kilkenny. Our room was generously sized with a comfortable bed and good amenities. Breakfasts were cooked to order and while not large, were delicious. The B&B serves as a great place for visiting Kilkenny or the surrounding area. Still, just as a location, I would give this four stars, but it gets five stars because of the service. Our host Nicola was quick to answer any questions I emailed her before we arrived. During our stay, she gave us a number of great recommendations on places to eat and other services we needed. What perhaps stands out most, however, was after our first morning, we mentioned that our bathtub was just a bit slick when the water was running; she immediately went out and purchased a bath mat. Someone more cynical might have chalked that up to concerns over liability, but to us, it seemed to come from a genuine desire to make sure our stay was excellent. That kind of service is hard to beat, and is the main reason we would happily stay here again."
"Lovely, very clean, small room, only one chair, very friendly owner. Disappointed that breakfast was not served until 8:30 AM. Our flight from Dublin scheduled for 1:10 PM. We were advised to leave at 7AM & did so, ran into stop & go traffic on the M7 which continued on into Dublin & on the M50, but still stopped for gas, turned the car in and checked in & through security & ready to board 3 hrs before departure. We did have a bag with some food in our fridge although not very good. Would recommend only if you have time for a leisurely breakfast after 8:30 AM."
"My wife and I spent two nights at the Country House. The bedrooms were very comfortable, well appointed and we wanted for nothing. Breakfasts were freshly cooked for each guest. Kathryn and John Graham"
