"My husband and I stayed 1 night as part of our weeklong Ireland trip and had to leave at 5:30am to catch our flight so we did not get to enjoy the breakfast. Our hosts knew this so they provided a tray of cereal, pastries, fruit and drinks so we could have breakfast for the road. That was much appreciated and more than we expected. The grounds were gorgeous with lush landscaping and a castle ruin on the property that the family has held since the 1700s. We were allowed to peek inside the castle doors. The inside of the house was mostly decorated with beautiful antiques with modern technology additions. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. There was a minifridge in our room and our skylight had a remote control shade! Our bathroom was newly remodeled and seemed to be 15 feet tall with a skylight at the top. Our host recommended a nearby restaurant for dinner and it was wonderful. This B&B was an attraction in itself with the castle, stately decor, old stone houses, and history. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for a lovely stay."
"Would give 0 stars if I could. My family and I were driving through Thurles and saw (what we thought) was a nice bed and breakfast and a sign that said “Accommadation”. So I went in to see if there was any availability while my family sat in the car. Please note: it was about 2pm and the front door was slightly cracked open. After standing at the front desk for about 10 min with no sign of ANYONE, no bell to ring, and no obvious way to alert someone of my presence - I had to use the toilet. Right around the corner was a sign that said “toilet”. I quickly used the toilet (which was dirty) and walked out (still no one at the front desk) and proceeded outside to tell my family I was still waiting to see if they had any availability. The second I walked out the door, the door swung back open and all of a sudden I was being yelled at by a woman who I quickly understood to own the B&B. She continued to yell at me asking “how dare you just come into MY HOME and use the toilet”. She proceeded to yell at me saying how rude and inappropriate I was while I profusely apologized as I stood there in absolute shock. She said I just came in without ringing a doorbell. (Mind you, I’m not even from Ireland - everything looks different. The doorbell was not obvious AND the front door was cracked open). I tried to explain to her what happened but she continued to yell at me - barely letting me get a word in. After about 2 solid minutes of getting yelled at, she slammed the door in my face. I am still in shock, to be honest. She made me feel like I broke into her home... when really I was just trying to inquire about staying the night there with my family! I EVEN SIGNED THE GUEST BOOK! Why would I do that if I was just trying to break into someone’s house to use the toilet? Plenty of other lovely B&Bs in the area!"
"Really a bad place. Don’t go here unless you like to be yelled at!! We stopped here to see the castle and see if we could get some tea/coffee and possibly a bite to eat, but we were immediately met with an angry owner opening the door. When we said that “we don’t have a booking, but we’d like to...”, the owner cut us off and yelled “Get out of here!!” And that we’re trespassing his ground and it’s a private place. If you want poor service and get yelled at for no reason, then come here. The owner sure knows how to kick people out by yelling and pointing on the road!"
"In the middle of the Country and very cool location. My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to stay here the day after St. Patricks Day and it was the perfect recovery location. It also happened to be SNOWING! It was awesome. Just being inside you know there is a lot of history that belongs to this house and it is really awesome to know you are staying in such an old place."
"Very peaceful and lovely place. The host is very kindle. We enjoyed staying there. Here we tasted our first Irish breakfast: very good!"
