"nice place ,very old style , has that old smell of a cottage, whixh takes a bit of getting use too, downstairs lovely cool, upstairs very warm. Bed was hard, mattress could do with being up dated, Some cobwebs and dust around but overall our stay was lovely and the pet chicken greeting us, every even when we came back in was lovely"
"We arrived very late and were greeted by the lovely Lena (at midnight!) She was exceptionally helpful with her tips for planning places to visit, her offers to pick up things we needed and her general kindness. She left a bottle of wine, fruit, eggs (from her hens no less) and a chocolate bunny. A lovely surprise. The location was great; within an hour of some great places and various cities. Parking on-site too, which was located just outside of the cottage. The cottage was quaint and everything you needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the fire, especially on the cold nights (and there were a few!) It was big enough for us and our two small children with a dining table and a small kitchen area (and a dishwasher! Bonus!) Extra blankets were supplied, if needed, and we could help ourselves to as much fuel as we needed for the fire. The children loved their beds and slept well though perhaps a blind on the roof window may have helped them sleep a little longer but that's a minor point. The bed in the double room could have done with a bed topper as it wasn't the most comfortable, but again, this is a minor point. If you're looking for a place to browse on the net, spend the majority of your time on the phone or watching digital TV then this isn't the place for you! We downloaded a few films on our tablet beforehand which was perfect for the evenings but this place is definitely for people who want to escape city life and just want to enjoy a simple, quiet and calming holiday. Despite the weather, we had a lovely time but next time we'll definitely book when more things are open as February seems to be a quiet month with lots closed but we didn't mind as we were still able to take in the scenery on our various drives around Ireland."
"Was here for a week during the heat wave last week, What a lovely cottage, great hostess and didn't want to leave had an amazing week and can't wait to come back. Will defantly recommend to all and wish i could give it more than 5 stars."
"we were staying for a week in a lovely cottage near portumna, due to a clay shooting competition in esker.. the cottage was fantastic but the host, (lena) was the best part! lena was extremely down to earth and helpful! she puts so much effort into the running of the cottages and keeps the place looking beautiful! we felt very welcome and we hope to come back soon!"
