"Avoid at all costs. My card was charged before I even checked out. Horrible stay in a room that was so hot we felt sick and couldn't sleep. Receptionist never asked how my stay was just told me it was charged to my card when I went to check out. Rooms not soundproofed and loud. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Chef was nice, thats about it. You'd be better off in a tent. Manager only offered to upgrade our room on our next stay, as if we'd ever set foot in the place again. All the negative reviews say the same thing and nothing done to rectify that. Still charged full price, unbelievable."
"Lovely old-fashioned hotel with thick carpets, spacey rooms and great service at affordable price. Last but not least they have a swimming pool with sauna area including the hottest jacuzzi in history. Anytime again!"
"We spent Easter 2023 weekend at the Lady Gregory Hotel for an international family reunion. Easily over 100+ of us in the Yates Pub on the Saturday night, and over 140 people for the sit-down dinner in the event room on the Sunday night. The staff working the bar were absolutely top notch - they were speedy and friendly and efficient. The servers for the sit-down dinner on sunday were excellent, too. Overall a great experience. Especially since the planning of it was 3 years in the making as Covid kept having our event cancelled."
"Staff were very friendly and helpful. I think the website oversells the facilities of the hotel a bit. -For anyone thinking of staying because of the pool and 'spa' keep in mind that it's actually the local community pool, so if you're expecting a relaxing swim in a quiet hotel pool you probably won't get it as the pool/'spa' area was full of about 20 kids when we showed up. The sauna was a tiny room that was unbearably hot (so hot that it was fairly difficult to breath) and there are no private cubicles to get changed in, meaning you have to choose between getting changed in one of the showers or in the uncomfortably small open changing area. -The bar was good. Friendly bar staff and all of the pints were fresh kegs and decently priced. Once again the website completely oversells the food. I'd have more respect if they'd just been very honest about it and advertised that they do bar style grub instead of trying to advertise the food as some gourmet 'award winning' menu. It's exactly the type of food you'd expect at a hotel bar, that's not to say it's bad, but don't try to advertise hotel bar food as anything more than what it is. -Room was spacious and very clean. Only complaint was that it was unbearably hot on the first night. Overall Lady Gregory's is a good hotel and all the staff were fantastic but theyre definitely trying to oversell themselves with their website and advertising. If I'd known what I was actually getting when I booked it I would've been totally fine with it, but the way the website talks the whole experience up leads to some disappointment."
