"I arrived at this chemist after lunchtime ( Date and time I have saved) while I was waiting and second in the que the young customer no more than 21 in front of me told the staff member at the till he would be needing Neurofen pluss and a box of Solpedien for his aunty who is sick at home, in which both of these contain high amounts of codeine which is is highly addictive. While asking he asked for the first one then said he could not remember the name of the second item but has it in his phone from his aunty and kinda talked and spelt pretending he didn't know this medicine as I was behind and couldn't help glance at his lit up blank screen, the staff member knew the medicine he was trying to prescribe immediately proving his plan worked and he was given a 24 box of Solpedien and a the largest box available of Neurofen plus and was told that they both contain codeine and must not be taking after three days and he paid and left sith his pal outside watching his bicycle, i foumd this totally contradictory as just one box contains over three days supply and dangerous, recklessness and un professional at the least as even a pharmacist was in early shot and could of easily intervened it was totally disgraceful. I found my self in a position in which I was shocked and annoyed I did not intervene as I did not know exactly full extent of the policy's in place but after a little reminder search ithe was frightening to know how addictive and strong themail two boxes of medication would of had on this young man and I really do hope it was for his auntys bad back. But this lax type of behavior shown in this pharmacy with duty of care is what is leaving this country into a pill nation. On another occasion a week before Christmas I was in again and an elderly lady asked for a 24 pack of Solpedien, she was asked for a reason and her reason was her two sons where coming home to stay for Christmas and they will be for the hangovers during the holidays??? I think I'll just leave that one open as its just ridiculous that a qaulified person would think codeine is an answer to a hangover regardless being Christmas week or not. I really hope someone qaulified could do something and I strongly agree only certain chemists who are aware of the dangers should sell it."
