"A beautiful place for a walk- with children and dogs. Dogs must be kept on the lead - lots of swans and geese there and deep water. Concrete paths and no steps great. Nice to see all the birds and lovely to think they have an otter there. We had a picnic away from the bigger birds and had two or three robins at our feet waiting for crumbs. Views of the sunset - spectacular!"
"Backwell lake was built in the 1980,s. I remember seeing someone trying to windsurf when it was surrounded by gravel. Now it's a completely natural place, the Canada Geese have arrived to join the many swans and other birdlife. It's about 800 meters to walk on the pavement round the lake and there is ample parking. Many dog walkers and people just out for a refreshing stroll with the odd fitness runner going past and past and past. Showing me that I am not 30 anymore and should be joining them . People are not supposed to feed the wildlife but some do which can be annoying as they leave cabbage leaves all over which can't be good for the Swans or others. The photos were after flooding last week in January. Just a day and the next it was gone. Whether you have a dog or want to lose weight or just walk around the lake it is a brilliant place to be whatever the weather. I highly recommend it and take my dog there everyday for a walk."
"Gorgeous lake for evening strolls, no cycling allowed, dogs must be on leads. Lots of birds ducks and swans, no feeding them. 800 km loop of the lake some of it paved but mostly gravel. Benches scattered throughout. Parking available, also a short walk from nailsea train station. Full loop takes less than 10 minutes to walk."
"Beautiful place, great for kids who want to feed the birds...although the swans and geese can be a little territorial, especially when they have their young! Only a very short walk around the lake (15 mins or so with a four year old) but it's nice and calm and good to stretch your legs. Free car park (turning isn't signposted but it's near the train station), lots of benches, no other facilities."
"Lovely morning by the lake…great to have such a facility so close. Well done Wessex Water for carrying out the improvements."
