"Lovely castle! It's quite small and very interesting! Our children were happy running around and discovering the different rooms and view points. The circular trail around it was also beautiful and buggy friendly.. There is also a very very cool playground next to the parking! And a small Cafe inside the castle."
"What a beautiful place to spend the day. The castle itself is quite small so there isn't a huge amount to see within the castle walls, however what there is makes for a brilliant, relaxing and fun time for all the family. There is a small cafe serving refreshments but you are able to bring your own food and drinks and enjoy them on the many picnic tables. The whole place is super dog friendly, there are lots of picnic tables within the castle walls and situated in the many fields and woodlands. There's free parking, toilet facilities and a childs play area plus entrance to the castle is free. Well worth the 45 minute drive and we'll certainly be back."
"I took my 88 year old mother in a wheelchair. We could access the castle easily and first impression of the courtyard and buildings was that they were impressive and well maintained. A light snack and drink was available from the cafe, which we enjoyed by soaking up the atmosphere. Despite the fact my mother, in a wheelchair, could not access much of the interior, she enjoyed sitting near each section entrance point, reading the information from a guidebook purchased at the cafe. A walk around the exterior was also possible. Truly an enjoyable visit and incredible that it was free entry."
"We drove for just over an hour to come visit Caldicot Castle and it's was absolutely beautiful very well preserved. Gorgeous views from the top of the tower. A must see! Free entry, lots of parking, very friendly staff, a play area and duck pond and a good little cafe onsite. You can also buy duck food to feed the ducks."
"What a fantastic place to visit for FREE! Even the parking is free. We had a lovely picnic in the shade of some of the big old trees around the outside then had a stroll around inside. There's a small tea room and gift shop, there was even a big sail erected to get out of the sun so we sat and had a coffee. There's a child's play area, loads of picnic tables and lavatories. It was a very pleasant walk around the grounds, all dog friendly."
