"Booked a stay for my birthday and got a lovely surprise when we went to the room and had been given an update to the Grand Suite - this place was amazing. A large apartment with a lounge area, huge bedroom overlooking the Clyde with a seating area and 4 poster bed that I need a stepladder to get into ! Stunning bathroom and shower with bath overlooking the Clyde too. Such an old grand room it was beautiful. Dinner was included in our deal and was delicious. Salmon, scallops, duck and steak and every one was cooked to perfection. Had a couple of drinks in the main lounge listening to the piano player. Breakfast was lovely too with loads of choice. All in a perfect stay and so lucky to get the suite. Special thanks to our server Finn and also to Jake and Mark on reception. Thank you all for everything - really made my weekend special."
"Went there for a spa day expecting it to be wonderful like the estate. Arrived at 10am, to share the ladies facilities with cleaning staff. They expected us so why not get all cleaning done before guests arrive! Offered a pot of tea, had to ask for cups . Tea and cups go together, why does guests have to ask for a cup! Lunch started with a soup and a very dried out sandwich. The sandwich obviously was left in a corner for a long time before served to me. The waitress brought the two sandwiches and one soup. Then went all the way back to fetch the other soup. How about serving the two soups together and then sandwiches. We were told to be back at 2pm for treatments. 13.30 we were called so I had to gulp down my coffee. Up until then it was a very low budget and unprofessional feeling. Thanks to Fiona and her colleague giving us professional treatments. I often go for spa days but this is an experience myself and my daughter will never recommend. Definitely a 1 star experience for a 5 star price tag."
"We had an overnight stay as we were exhibiting at a Xmas Fair at the hotel. It should have been two nights but I messed up. Upon reception I felt as if they thought I shouldn’t be there. Perhaps above my pay grade. After we discovered the error they said they had no availability for a second night. This confused me as they had already taken dinner reservations from us for two nights. The room was the furthest away room and was one hell of a walk to get there. During the walk the corridors went from hot to cold. It was not a nice environment. Our evening meal in the bar was made most enjoyable by the first rate service we received. When our cheese board was late they offered to remove it from the bill and gave my wife a free drink. We took the drink but told them the cost should stay as there was no harm done. It was a stay of mixed emotions but I did not for one second think I was staying at a 5 star resort. There was no atmosphere and it felt like I was visiting Downtown Abbey but with a bit of a makeover needed. Our second night was booked at Duck Bay and what a difference in comparison."
"We stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast and had a spa day the following day. Room was large and comfortable. My dinner was barely warm, daughter's was ok. Other diners complained their food was cold. Breakfast was very limited for gluten free."
"Had a wonderful stay here with our dog, Scout! The staff were so attentive and friendly, and the food was exceptional. My partner and I are both vegan and there was a separate menu provided for us at dinner. We stayed for afternoon tea the next day and were so impressed at the vegan selection of cakes and sandwiches. The view from the hotel is spectacular and we managed to get a good few walks whilst there."
