When you enter through our waharoa (gateway), you will be greeted by our amazing kindergarten team who are dedicated to ensuring that your child's time at Kidsfirst Kindergartens Templeton is filled with fun and learning. Our well-resourced kindergarten offers a spacious, welcoming, and attractive environment that is designed with your child's needs in mind.

Inside our kindergarten, your child will have plenty of opportunities to try new things, inspire curiosity, and develop creativity through play. We believe in providing an atmosphere full of fun and independence, where children feel a sense of belonging. Our indoor space is thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration and learning.

Outside, our beautiful and expansive backyard provides ample room for children to explore and develop their physical skills. We have a variety of moveable equipment that allows children to set their own challenges and push their limits. Our large gardens teach children the importance of caring for the environment through activities such as planting, tending to crops, and looking after our hei hei (chickens). We even have a composting and worm farm! The children love being next door to the farm, and they often watch the animals closely from the bridge in our playground.

At Kidsfirst Kindergartens Templeton, we celebrate learning through play. Our teaching approach involves a process of inquiry, research, and exploration, building on children's working theories and ideas to help them gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. Throughout the year, we host community events such as picnics, discos, wheel-a-thons, and movie nights, where everyone is welcome. Our parents are incredibly supportive and actively contribute to our kindergarten in various ways, enriching our program with their knowledge, skills, language, culture, and resources.

We are proud to be under the protective cloak of Ngāti Moki Marae, and we celebrate our bicultural partnership by learning about our local legends, visiting the marae, and learning about Te Waihora (Lake Ellesmere). Our kindergarten environment reflects our bicultural heritage with native plantings, a whare (meeting house), and a wahaoroa (gateway) that welcomes you into our kindergarten.

We work closely with Templeton School, or any school of your choice, to ensure a smooth transition for your child. Our kindergarten maintains a strong relationship with new entrant teachers who regularly visit, and our oldest ten children have the opportunity to visit the new entrant class at Templeton School.

We recommend initially enrolling your child for at least two full days, gradually building up to five days at their own pace. This allows our teachers to get to know your child better and provides consistency in supporting their learning.
