Kidsfirst Kindergartens Hei Hei 10 Wycola Avenue, Hei Hei, Christchurch, Canterbury 8042
About the Business
Welcome to Kidsfirst Kindergartens Hei Hei, located in Christchurch, on Wycola Avenue. Our kindergarten is situated right next to the beautiful Wycola Park, offering wide open spaces for your child to explore and play. We are proud to be a part of the Hei Hei community and strive to create a nurturing environment for your child's early education.
As you enter our kindergarten, you will be greeted by our waharoa, a traditional Maori gateway that proudly tells our story. Inside, children aged 2 to 5 years old have access to a range of carefully curated resources that encourage thinking and exploration. Learning occurs at each child's own pace, fostering their mana, wairua, and mauri. We encourage our tamariki (children) to be mindful of the world around them and to respect the environment in which they learn and play. The calming and friendly wairua (spirit) of our environment is evident as soon as you step through the door, with children's work proudly displayed on the walls.
Outside, our playground offers a lush, green, and natural landscape that provides physical challenges and activities to spark your child's imagination. Our tamariki and teachers have worked together to build and maintain a vegetable garden, allowing us to teach the importance of sustainability and the role we play in protecting our environment. We believe in the power of nature, and it forms an integral part of our daily program.
At Kidsfirst Kindergartens Hei Hei, we value the involvement of parents and whānau (extended family) as the first teachers in a child's life. We encourage families to visit and participate in their child's kindergarten day, sharing their skills, language, and culture. Community and connectedness are at the heart of what we do, and we embrace the multiculturalism and diversity of our community.
We actively engage with our local area, taking our tamariki on visits to strengthen their connections within the community and teach them about their role as caretakers (kaitiaki) of the environment. We also have strong links with local primary schools to support a smooth transition for your child as they move on from kindergarten.
We recommend enrolling your child for at least two full days initially, gradually building up to five days at their own pace. This allows our teachers to get to know your child and provide consistent support for their learning journey.
We welcome you to visit our kindergarten at any time. Our friendly staff will be happy to show you around and make you feel at home. Keep an eye out for our special offers, as we occasionally provide opportunities for more children to join our not-for-profit, community kindergarten. However, spaces are limited, and these offers are available for a limited time only. Conditions apply.
Nau mai, tauti mai - come in any time, we'll show you around and make you welcome!
