Welcome to Theatre Dance Academy (TDA), located in the vibrant city of Christchurch, New Zealand. Our institution is not only open to St Margaret's College students but also to the wider community, offering a range of mixed dance classes for students of all ages, from three years old through to adults.

At TDA, we pride ourselves on providing a diverse range of dance styles to cater to every individual's passion and interest. Our syllabus includes jazz (ADJA), ballet (BBO), contemporary, hip hop, musical theatre, tap, lyrical dance, and cirque aerial. These classes are taught by highly accomplished dance teachers who have extensive experience in training dancers with versatility, strength, and a deep passion for their craft. Our purpose-built dance studios provide the perfect environment for students to learn and grow.

One of the unique features of TDA is our offering of cirque aerial classes, making us the first school in Australasia to introduce this exciting art form. Taught by the renowned New Zealand Cirque Master, Danny Lee Syme, these classes cover aerial trapeze, silks, lyra, and aerial strength techniques. Not only do these classes increase strength and fitness, but they also add a new performance dimension for our students, allowing them to explore new heights in their dance journey.

At TDA, we believe in providing outstanding opportunities for our students to achieve internationally recognized qualifications in jazz and ballet syllabi. Our dance graduates have gone on to pursue high profile dance careers in performance, choreography, direction, education, and more. We take pride in nurturing our students' talents and helping them reach their full potential.

In addition to regular classes, students at TDA also have the chance to participate in regional and national dance competitions. We offer private choreography and extension tuition to support our students in their dance goals, providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
