Welcome to Alicetown Playcentre! Located in Lower Hutt, Victoria Street, our institution is a point of interest and school that offers quality, friendly, and fun early childhood education. As a parent-run cooperative, our members actively contribute to the running of our sessions and the operation of our centre, creating an inclusive and supportive community.

If you're searching for your village, look no further than Alicetown Playcentre. Our centre is situated in the rainbow building, nestled between the Victoria Street playground and Hutt Central School. We provide child-led, adult-supported, free play sessions in a well-resourced facility.

At Alicetown Playcentre, children are encouraged to explore and learn new skills through free play. They have the freedom to choose from a wide range of activities available during each session, including music, dress-ups, messy play, painting, playdough, baking, carpentry, crafts, water play, and sand play. With different activities available every day and parents bringing their unique skills, interests, and cultural backgrounds, our centre offers a rich learning environment.

Our spacious outdoor play area offers plenty of opportunities for adventure and imaginative play. Children can explore the sandpit, swings, fort, slide, and bike track, fostering their creativity and physical development.

As a member of Alicetown Playcentre, you'll have access to free adult education in parenting and early childhood education. This empowers parents to run high-quality sessions and play alongside their children, providing nurturing support, guidance, and encouragement to help them become independent and confident individuals.

We believe that parents and whānau (extended family) are the first and best educators of their children. By supporting parents and involving them in their child's education, we empower families and achieve great outcomes for all.

In addition to our regular sessions, we also offer tuakana sessions for older children on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 am to 1 pm. These extended sessions focus on developing problem-solving skills, social skills, resilience, and self-care, ensuring a smooth transition to school.
