Welcome to Waiwhetu Kindergarten, located at 30 Grenville Street in the beautiful Lower Hutt, New Zealand. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and enriching learning environment for children.

At Waiwhetu Kindergarten, we believe in the power of outdoor play and exploration. Rain or shine, our children play, learn, and teach in all weather conditions because we understand that the weather and seasons offer valuable learning opportunities. Our forest area provides a natural setting for children to explore and connect with nature. The large sandpit is always buzzing with activity, and our outdoor area allows children to develop their physical skills and gain confidence.

Inside our spacious indoor area, children have access to a wide variety of learning opportunities through play. From creating art to engaging in role play, using books, puzzles, and games, our children are encouraged to follow their interests and take responsibility for their own learning. Our dedicated teachers work collaboratively with the children, developing personalized learning programs based on their interests.

At Waiwhetu Kindergarten, nurturing and growing relationships is at the heart of everything we do. We warmly welcome families to visit and experience our kindergarten firsthand. We believe that strong partnerships between teachers, parents, and children create a supportive and inclusive community.

Our team at Waiwhetu Kindergarten is led by Head Teacher Leonie Poynter, along with teachers Amelia Bradford, Michelle Hodgson, Louise Smith, and Caroline Ward. Our Kindergarten Administrator & Teacher Support, Trish Newton, ensures that everything runs smoothly.

We follow the academic year, with Term 1 running from 25th January to 6th April, Term 2 from 24th April to 30th June, Term 3 from 17th July to 22nd September, and Term 4 from 9th October to 21st December.
