We want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome during their time at Richley Reserve Playground.
As an institution, we also recognize and respect the traditional country of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples on whose land we operate. We acknowledge their rich cultural heritage, beliefs, and ongoing connection to the land. We understand that they have endured more than two hundred years of dispossession and are proud survivors. The City of Newcastle, in which Richley Reserve Playground is located, reiterates its commitment to addressing disadvantages and achieving justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within this community.

"Quite a hidden gem for a day out for a celebration, you just need to book locations in advance. Prepare to carry your belongings for about 100m from the car though it’s worth it for children activities user the age of 19 years. The locate is also ok for a picnic date amongst the nature if you can tolerate younger children."
"A big playground but not many activities for the kids. I mean, yeah there are some huge climbing tunnels, but they're inaccessible for kids under 7, and parents end up having to go collect their kids from in there. The playground is nice but ultimately boring, all th kids gravitating to a single place and getting injured as a result. Love the natural setting, the bbq areas, the wildlife, ... But the playground is a big miss."
"This is a great place for a family BBQ or birthday party. Great clean play equipment and modern facilities make this a preferred spot for my family. be ready to be greated by the wildlife and take your repellent as ther can be mosquitoes. A really nice spot to stop and enjoy being with the family."
"Excellent nature reserve to take the whole family. The kids loved this huge play ground and the many experiences it provides. It's absolutely beautiful to be surrounded by trees and the sounds of the birds especially the occasional laughing kookaburra. The lake has ducks. You can take a bush walk through to the other side of Blackbutt reserve to see the animals along the board walk. There are plenty of green grass for your picnic blanket or to kick a ball or catch a frisbee. Picnic tables and a few bbq and public toilets. Just remember it's a paid parking area now so will cost about $12 for a few hours to park."
"Lots of tables and shelters, toilets and bubblers, plus a playground for all ages. Really amazing time and place."
