"I popped in for a last minute noodle craving, wanting to try something new. When I walked in I was flooded with a funky, cool, positive vibe, everyone looked like they were having a great time. My partner and I were not disappointed, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The meal came out quick and tasted really good. We enjoyed the band and watching some of the other patrons get down for a little dance it was a genuinely exceptional experience. The reason for 3 stars; on our way home we realised being charged $64 instead of what we should have been charged was a careless and arguably fraudulent mistake. We ordered: Ginger + Tumeric Tea $8 Chinese Greens $12 Pork and Fermented vegetable dumplings $9 (4) 1x Traditional noodles with Beef $24 I understand mistakes happen, but this should not have occurred. Steps should be in place to rectify and prevent this from happening. Definitely a letdown to an otherwise truly wonderful dining experience."
"Ambiance was amazing and enjoyed the music immensely. Food was delicious and cannot recommend the spring rolls enough. The food was simple but flavoursome. We will be going back! Also loved the dancing at the end of the night!"
"We had our wedding party here about a month ago and it was an absolute delight. Matt the owner is a beautiful human who really went above and beyond to help make our special night even more wonderful than it already was. The food was delicious, the ambience was perfect and the music provided by Matt and the resident jazz band was a blast. We can't thank Matt enough "
"The beef noodles were amazing, nice depth to the broth, beef was tender and well cooked. Delicious home style cooking. Dumplings were also tasty (meat ones we loved, veggie filling was soggy and didn't bind together). Didn't love the shallot pancake too. Mountain tea was very nice. Overall we enjoyed the food and atmosphere."
"I felt like dumplings whilst staying in Newcastle and my friend tempted me with an ‘experience’ at Franky’s. It definitely lived up to those expectations. I’m not sure if it was the communal effort of the customers attempting to pull the cover over the outdoor area to avoid the rain, the live jazz or the live jazz and the staff randomly join in and start singing but we had a lot of fun. BYO and cash only - food was okay but overall, we had an excellent night"
