Crown Street Stables, nestled in Coronet Park, is one of the oldest working stables in the municipality, with a rich history dating back to its construction in 1886. Originally designed to lodge six horses, these stables have witnessed various transformations, from storing produce to accommodating the Light Horse Brigade during World War II.

While we strive to create a welcoming atmosphere, there are certain restrictions in place for the safety and enjoyment of all patrons. Please note that the facility cannot be booked for teenage birthdays, 18th or 21st celebrations. Additionally, we do not allow jumping castles or animal farms within our premises.

As a designated dry area, both Coronet Park and Crown Street Stables prohibit the consumption of alcohol. We kindly ask visitors to adhere to this policy and refrain from smoking within the building or within 4 meters of it. Smoking is also prohibited within 10 meters of the play equipment in Coronet Park.

Crown Street Loft, a versatile space available for hire, is the perfect venue for various events. However, please be aware that it is closed for a shutdown period over Christmas, from 21 December 2023 to 8 January 2024. For pricing details, please refer to our Community Facilities page.

At Crown Street Stables, we are dedicated to fostering a sense of community and providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Plans are underway to transform this historic building into a vital community hub, offering a hall for hire to local groups and creating a safe and respectful environment for individuals with disabilities to gain valuable on-the-job work experience in our café.

Through our program, trainees receive comprehensive support to explore future employment options and prepare for paid positions. We believe that people with disabilities bring a diverse range of valuable skills, qualifications, and experiences to the Australian workforce. To further assist our graduates, we collaborate with external providers such as Disability Employment Services (DES) to facilitate employment pathways.

As we embark on this journey, we also want to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung People of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to their spirits, ancestors, elders, and community members past and present.

Furthermore, we are proud to announce that Moonee Valley City Council, to which Crown Street Stables belongs, has been certified as carbon neutral, demonstrating our commitment to a low carbon future amidst the climate emergency we face.
