Magic Pudding Child Care Centre 1 McKee Street, Ultimo, New South Wales 2007
About the Business
Welcome to Magic Pudding Child Care Centre, a premier establishment located at 1 McKee St, Ultimo, Australia. Situated just 400m from the main Broadway campus of UTS, we are a point of interest for families seeking high-quality early childhood education.
At Magic Pudding, we are passionate about the first 2000 days of a child's life and understand the immense impact it has on their development. As early childhood professionals, we prioritize the holistic growth of each child in our care. From birth to five years old, we nurture their cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical development.
We firmly believe that play is a form of research, and therefore, we provide our children with endless learning opportunities. Through individual and group activities, we encourage curiosity, joy, resilience, kindness, and a sense of belonging. Our routines, transitions, rituals, learning environments, and educational programs are designed to uphold and respect children's rights and dignity.
Parents have praised our educators for teaching kindness and compassion, preparing children for their transition to big school. Our indoor and outdoor learning environments are spacious, vibrant, and responsive to the interests and strengths of each child. We prioritize relationships, inclusion, and interactions among peers, ensuring that all children can explore and enjoy our outdoor spaces.
Cultural diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our philosophy. We celebrate the lives and identities of children and families at Magic Pudding, incorporating different cultures into our educational programs and learning environments. We actively encourage families to share their culture with us and engage with support services and therapists to promote inclusion for children with diverse backgrounds.
In our outdoor learning environments, children are encouraged to take risks, climb, and engage with recycled materials. With raised garden beds, stingless bees, chickens, worm farms, sand, bark, water, and dirt, we foster their connection to the living and natural world, instilling a commitment to sustainable living and learning.
Our center also values the rich history and culture of the First Nations people. Through our engagement with local Elder Uncle Jimmy Smith, children learn about the Gadigal land, its people, and their culture. We acknowledge and pay respect to the First Nations people and the Gadigal land upon which Magic Pudding stands.
Building strong partnerships is crucial to us, and we actively collaborate with UTS, the local community, and beyond. Children have the opportunity to visit the university, connect with different people, and engage in various learning experiences. We consider all stakeholders to be an integral part of our center's philosophy.

"My child attended since they were 10months off until they went to school. Many of the staff are longstanding, two of them have been there for over 30 years! They are so incredibly caring and it was so sad when we had to transition to school. They created our 'village' when we didn't have our own. Thank you Magic Pudding team. We miss you!!"
"Our 2.5 year old goes to Magic Pudding and we would like to thank you for all the support and nurture the educators have provided over the last 1.5 years of his time there. It has been such a difficult time for everyone due to COVID. We appreciate the hard work the childcare and educators have put in to make sure there is the right balance to ensure we have a safe environment while still making them feel welcomed and engaged."
"We've had two kids go here. One from babies room all the way through to leaving for school and one in the babies room now. The educators are so wonderful and caring and attentive. Kids of all ages thrive here. The communication is excellent. Couldn't rate it more highly."
"Out little girl went to MP for about a year. To tell the truth, we were happy when she got a spot elsewhere. Our little one was in the baby room - there were 16 babies/toddlers, which is a larger amount of children than in most other centres we know (up to 12 babies). It was therefore quite noisy and busy most of the time, which is not necessarily what you want for a baby. Some staff were great, and were at the centre for a long time, but others seemed very disengaged and ‘cold’. Most of the educators also seemed stressed often, which we do not find to be the case in our new centre. There was no ‘home away from home’ athmosphere, it was all quite sterile and business like. There also is not much community engagement if that is important to you, apart from an Xmas party and, as I recall, a mother’s day event. The educational program is good, but it was probably a bit intense for a baby room (the activities changed so often that not much learning could occur). It’s not a bad centre, but it certainly is not a ‘Hilton’ either. Perhaps it’s better suited for older children?"
"The person who wrote the one star review couldn’t be more wrong. Magic Pudding childcare is a wonderful home like environment with a culturally diverse mix of caring and loving educators. The children always seem very happy when I go by and from word of mouth- I’ve only heard good things from my friends whose children attend."
