One of the park's unique features is its remnant Blue Gum High Forest vegetation, which is classified as an endangered ecological community. If you're visiting the Phyllis Burke Complex, located at 15-17 Barton Road in Artarmon, make sure to explore the central courtyard. This courtyard serves as a community garden for the residents of the complex, providing a peaceful and green space for them to enjoy.
At Willoughby City Council, we also acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of the lands on which our parks stand, the Gamaragal people. We pay tribute to their Elders, both past and present, and strive to maintain a harmonious relationship with the land and its custodians.
So, whether you're a nature lover seeking a serene escape or a history enthusiast curious about the stories behind these parks, Kingsford Smith Park and its surrounding attractions offer a delightful and enriching experience. "Lovely relaxed little park with small playground and picnic area."
"Great park for younger kids and older kids if they just need open space to run around. Bubbler, swings, slides, and a climbing contraption/plane to play on. No toilets and could use a little more shade, otherwise great!"
"Very nice little park with play equipment (swings, slide, one rusty ride-on, and a sandpit) and a single bbq. No toilets or fence / gate. Lots of grass and shade although play equipment doesn't have a sailcloth so in summer there isn't that much protection. It's a peaceful park as the road ends in a cul de sac. The park isn't fenced but there is not much traffic. The local residents have donated lots of toys like ride-on cars and sandpit spades and diggers so toddlers will enjoy themselves. The sandpit ends up with lots of leaf matter etc in it. There are loads of birds and lizards and the occasional brush turkey."
"Fairly small Park with the basic swings, a slide and a couple of other pieces. Good for the neighbourhood, but not worth traveling to."
