It was a marvel of engineering, hydraulically jacked-up for reloading after each firing. Although the last firing took place in 1933, the memory of this powerful weapon lives on. The barrel of the 9.2 inch disappearing gun can now be admired at the Artillery Museum at North Head.

To honor the historical significance of Signal Hill Reserve, a memorial was placed here in November 1992 by the Royal Australian Signal Corps Association. This memorial stands as a testament to the brave soldiers who served and protected our coastlines. Additionally, two plaques were also placed on March 30, 1993, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the reserve's rich historical context.
