"Luxury Holidays are not for us, we love rural destinations, oldie worldie properties, peace and quiet, but what we do expect is a safe, dry, warm but MOST IMPORTANTLY CLEAN place to live while we are away. This beautiful cottage met none of those things. We feel that the agents need to view this property more thoroughly before continuing to advertise it. We have just returned from our holiday to Wreckers Cottage near Dunmore East in Ireland and feel they need to be made aware and to action the following concerns we encountered at the property. The property is now extremely shabby, run down, dirty and very draughty as a result of the following:- Panels in the lounge ceiling have fallen or are buckled and about to fall out causing draughts. Ivy is growing out of the ceiling in the elevated lounge area and creeping along the walls. There is a 2" gap under and partially up the front door with 2 holes on either side causing extreme draught. Toilet seat in downstairs bathroom is very loose. The window in the downstairs bathroom cannot be closed. The Formica worksurface is lifting in 3 place by as much as 1.5" which my wife caught her hands on several times. The webbing under the chairs in the lounge have snapped at some stage and been replaced by planks of wood. Some of the chairs in the dining area are damaged to such an extent that they were unable to be used. The landing curtain is just hanging by 2 curtain hooks only. The Cooker and Grill were absolutely disgusting grease and grime everywhere, it doesn't look as though they have been cleaned for a very long time. We also found a small bowl in one of the cupboards which had a rotting greasy oily substance in it, indicating that the cupboards had not been checked or cleaned. The downstairs bedroom could not be slept in as it was filthy with a thick layer of grime and dust all along the head of the bedstead by the mattress, this has not been cleaned for years. There were only 3 small portable heaters in the property to supply warmth ..... this is totally inadequate at this time of the year to heat the property. A notice on the Fridge advised guests to light a fire on arrival to take the chill off the property, sadly on arrival there were no logs and no means of being able to make a fire and it was very very cold. There were also several light bulbs either missing or not working. The toaster did not function .... but was subsequently replaced the following day. We have to say that this has been one of the most disappointing properties we have ever stayed in made worse by the fact that it was our first trip to Ireland"
