Carl and the team provided excellent advice, operated on him and guided us through the recovery process with thoroughness and kindness. Carl gave us as much time as we needed to answer our questions and did such a good job on Ben's leg that his wound recovery and rehabilitation was entirely problem free. "The standards set by the staff and veterinary team in this practice are of the highest order. In August of last year, my Springer Spaniel, Matti, suffered a severe break in his front right leg while on a hike. I met with Carl the following day and he comprehensively laid out the requirements for Matti to achieve a full recovery. At what was an extremely upsetting time, the staff at the practice could not have been more obliging. I received regular updates relating to the scheduled surgery, Matti's wellbeing and diet, the expected recovery timeline and measures we could take at home to help in the healing process. Carl's skill as a surgeon and the diligence of all of the staff in the clinic are undeniably to thank for the recovery that Matti has made. We received tailored aftercare instructions, along with a detailed pain management plan. Matti was even provided with a probiotic to help his stomach adapt to the medication. To supplement his recovery, we were presented with an array of preemptive options which would help limit any arthritis in the injured leg. At every juncture of his injury and recovery, the staff at Riverview Ballincollig went above and beyond. It is clear that the staff there treat this as a vocation. In essence, I felt as though the staff here were as invested in Matti's recovery as I was and Matti still pulls to get in the door of the clinic, which says it all!"

The extent of Harry’s injuries after his accident were really serious, and there were times where we didn’t think our little fella would make it. "Thank God for Carl and his team, without their expertise and dedication our dog wouldn't still be with us. Our dog came to Carl as a referral from Fionnuala at Riverview Carrigaline (who is also excellent by the way) as he just wasn't right in himself. Carl put together a comprehensive plan to identify what was wrong and although it sadly wasn't good news, he counselled us on an appropriate treatment plan which centered on my dog's quality of life and we are comfortable we have made the right decisions for him. Once the issue was identified, the team worked late to accommodate emergency, same day, surgery which my dog needed to survive (including a blood transfusion) and stayed all evening to take care of him, making sure he had everything he needed, even a meal at midnight! All the way through we have been given clear communication on exactly what is wrong, and regular phone calls with updates while my dog was in intensive care. Most importantly, we have been given options along the way with pros and cons of each to allow us to make informed decisions. It's not just Carl that's great, the entire team are lovely to work with and take great care of the animals, they have been very patient with my (many) phone calls for help and advice.
