"Just back from two nights at Kells Bay. What a wonderful hidden gem on the Iveragh Peninsula. As a firm fern aficionado, the Gardens are not to be missed, simply superb at any hour from dawn til dusk. It really is hard to believe that you are still in Ireland and not Indonesia. We stayed in the Blennerhassett Room which was clean, warm and very comfortable with great views from both windows. Staff were sincerely friendly, very attentive and most accommodating. Food both breakfast & dinner lovely. Would thoroughly recommend!"
"Gardens are not to be missed. Extraordinary temperate forest with masses of tree ferns and camellias. Rhododendrons are just starting to peek out. The bamboos are lovely too. Atmospheric walk. The dinosaurs will keep kids amused."
"Just landed back from there today. And already looking into it for a summer time stay. The location is AMAZING!! Yes, it's in the toe of Ireland and very rural and hidden. But what a location. Even in March, if you'd landed us blindfolded there, you could have told me it was Indonesia somewhere. Lovely beautiful room, with an amazing view. Fantastic hosts & staff. The gardens, you really need to just go and see them. Cannot recommend enough."
"Sadly it rained most of the time we were visiting, staff very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't call this placel disabled friendly, a lot of rough walking areas even to get from your room to the dining room which required an overcoat in the rain. Sadly for me, with walking difficulties, the gardens were off limit. On the plus side the room was very comfortable and cozy. Maybe in better weather the overall experience would have been more enjoyable"
"We really enjoyed our stay at Kells Bay. The room we stayed in was very nice and well maintained, and staff were friendly throughout. Our meal was also very nice, with Thai being a nice surprise on the Ring of Kerry The best part for us, was that despite arriving after the gardens closed and having to leave at 8am we were still granted access to the gardens. The fact that guests are allowed free access to the gardens from sunrise to sunset allowed us a 6am walk round the gardens, ensuring we didn’t miss out and securing us basically private access A few areas of the property could do with a bit of a tidy up, but considering the size of the place and how mad the last couple years have been, I think that’s understandable (Also go down to the beach, it’s beautiful)"
