"Co-op Food White Knight Reading is a grocery store located in University of Reading, Reading, England, that is part of the Co-op Food retail chain. The store offers a variety of groceries, including fresh produce, meat, dairy, bakery items, and packaged goods. In addition to food items, the store also sells household essentials, such as cleaning supplies and toiletries. As a co-operative, the store is committed to ethical and sustainable business practices. This includes sourcing products from local and ethical suppliers, reducing waste, and supporting community initiatives. The store also offers a range of vegetarian and vegan options, and has a policy of not selling products containing unsustainable palm oil. Overall, Co-op Food White Knight Reading offers a convenient and ethical option for grocery shopping in Reading, with a focus on community and sustainability."
"Poorly stocked and overpriced. This small coop seems like a good idea, but poorly executed. It was renovated in 2021 with the addition of larger bakery section, juice machine and hot fast food such as hot dogs. However, the shelves are often very empty reducing the already limited selection. The prices are not suitable for a student budget and seeing as this is in the centre of the White Knights campus it would make sense to be more accommodating. NUS discount is available here, as long as you have your physical card on you. Although, even with the discount (most) students will be blowing half their weeks money for food on one lunch. There is a larger alcohol section than any other section which some may find attractive, but for every day convenience it is not logical. Would not recommend if you are looking for anything gluten-free, unless you like to eat plain uncooked pasta."
"It’s slightly more expensive, but perfectly located at the centre of campus. Only problem is that lately the water from the refill machine tastes quite a lot of iron. I understand that it’s free (one of the few things free on campus…), but from my biology/physiology classes I don’t think I recall water to be the main source of iron for our organism."
"A convenience store on the expensive side which often has empty shelves in the food-to-go section by mid-morning. The store is also an awful layout with narrow aisles, it means people have to queue all over the place. Overall it could be better."
"The best supermarket I've been to. First supermarket to practice fair trade and sustainability and amazing customer service. They have everything freshly baked at the kitchen every day, every hour."
