"Sadly unimpressed in the end. It seemed to start well but has ended up with me having spent a fair amount and still having a broken stove. Initially I was told the top elements in my oven was broken so a new one was ordered. But that didn't fix the issue. So a new bottom element was ordered. But that didn't fit and I was told no parts were available and I'd need to replace the whole oven. I then ordered a new oven which, for other reasons, didn't fit.. Bored, I then tested it more thoroughly and I realise that actually it's the thermostat not the elements and, having checked just a bit harder, I found all of the parts are actually readily available. I sent them a text about a week ago pointing this out, giving them a chance to respond and to put the issue right, but I've heard nothing back. This is a real shame - I love to support local businesses."
"Called up as my washing machine wasn't working and was very happy to be able to have an appointment on the same day. Andy was friendly and professional, and most importantly he fixed my machine quickly. Would not hesitate to use him again in future, though hopefully I'll have no need!"
"I was hesitant to call this company after reading negative reviews from customers but i took a chance. I am glad i did take a chance. Andy explained to me the charges before his visit. The job took 3 working days to repair, from calling him, his first visit, ordering the parts then to fit on the 2nd visit. Andy was professional, honest and reliable. I will definitely be using him again."
"Really honest! I have a cheap dishwasher and phoned one company and they were going to charge me £80 for the call out. Spoke to these guys and they advised that it was probably more sensible to think about buying a new one, as the cost of the repair would be the same. This is the sign of a honest and intelligent business."
"Went “local” despite being more expensive than larger firm, which I regret. Was led to believe on the phone by albeit friendly engineer that smeg oven would most likely be fixed on initial visit, paid him £80 call out. Once he gave diagnosis of faulty PCB he said he can’t fix then as he doesn’t have the part but was certain it was PCB. Said it would be another £60 per hour plus cost for parts to come back and fix another day, he could potentially get aftermarket smeg parts cheap but sometimes they are pricey so would let me know. Came back to me couple of days later with quote of around £300 for a part which is worth about £70-£120 max. I advised I could get the part at about a 3rd of the cost so if he could come back and fit and I’ll supply the PCB. Asked if he was sure on diagnosis before I purchase part since oven PCB’s are non refundable. However, he said fitting PCB’s is a “risky enterprise” and something which he is often reluctant to do and could not guarantee his diagnosis. I obtained advice from the supplier instead who confirmed it was likely a correct diagnosis based on the symptoms so decided to buy and fit myself. I am not an engineer and I changed the part myself in 5 mins with just a screwdriver. The engineer was luckily correct in his diagnosis but I feel £80 for a call out with an unconvincing diagnosis, £60 per hour extra for 2nd visit, plus overcharging for the part by 3 times cost price is unacceptable. Sent a complaint email, unsurprisingly this wasn’t even acknowledged."
