"I applied on the 08/12/2022 for a renewal of my out of date passport through the online process. The new passport was delivered on 10/12/2022. Wow, very impressed with that. Well done to all involved as I had heard that it was very bad for a time especially and understandably so during the pandemic."
"Having previously left a 5 star review for the renewal of my own passport. I applied for passports for my 2 children. 1 was received without a problem and the second has not arrived after more than 2 months. The passport office having received so many applications have put in place a team of powerless customer service agents, a team disconnected from the application processing teams. I have been told, your documents were not received, your documents were indeed received but not yet scanned....each time a different story. 2 months later, none the wiser. Being told by the customer service agents "we are powerless too". Processing times provided are only an indication.....Sorry DFA, very broken process that needs urgent fixing."
"Quick waiting time, but agent was very passive aggressive and hung up on me. Our call was only 2 minutes. I am young, very patient and informed I just had a complex case as I am not currently living anywhere permanent - so I did not know how best to get my passport delivered. He did not help at all, and hung up after confirming I could not pick it up. Pretty mental, what a sad and angry man. I honestly wish him well - I hope his home life is okay..."
"I began my application for my Irish passport back in March and sent my supporting documents off straight away, hoping to at least have the passport by August when I would be moving to Ireland to live and work. They apparently didn’t receive my documents until late May and didn’t actually begin verifying them until late July when they decided to let me know they needed something else. A week before flying to Ireland I had to print and sign another witness form to send off. I wasn’t too stressed because I had my Australian Passport to travel, and let them know that I would be in Ireland and asked if they could dispatch the passport and documents to where I would be living. They then apparently lost the photocopy of my Australian passport and asked me to send the actual thing, so I did. When I called to see if they had received my passport, I was told that after the 6 months from beginning the application, the application would close. (Their fault!) So the following weeks I would consistently check online and call the office to see where it was at and if for any other bloody reason they needed more documentation, but was always told if there is a problem “the issuer would contact you” though they never did. Once I got a job contract I called them again letting them know that I need the passport urgently to be able to live and work here. The guy I spoke to said he would put me on the “fast track list” so it would be issued by Tuesday the 20th of September. Yesterday, I checked online to see if it was in the process of being issued but no, the application closed. Don’t waste your time with them. They’re the definition of incompetent."
"Applied for my son’s passport online in March,no problem received within 10 days. My daughter applied online last week her estimated date for new passport was Friday 19 August, she received it today and that was also counting a wee problem she had with having to submit a new photo. First class service well done"
