"The Avon has had some ups and downs over the past few years. When they closed the swimming pool, scaled back the restaurant and started charging to park there, I stopped going. I rediscovered the Avon recently and am impressed. The recent - to me - innovation of the addition of a food court with a range of good quality food vans/trucks/buses/trailers caters to savory and sweet palates alike. The vibe can range from the busy, to the not so busy, and opening times for the various eateries varies for each one(but is on the website). Beautiful views to enjoy when eating food and if you're there as the sun is setting, it has that real 'end of summer' feel to it. After dark, when the outdoor lights are on just feels 'special'... a real mood lifter. There's also nothing like having a quick snack or coffee and then heading for a walk down by the lake. I can't believe I stopped going down for so long - parking charge is worth it for the wonderful views alone. Recommended for a visit for something slightly different."
"An amazing scenery to watch while riding around dublin, the walk is beautiful on a sunny day and you can even grab your food and have it there on benches in front of that view. There are so many activities to do there like archery, better to book in advance. On weekends they play some music near food trucks which makes it fun for groups and kids."
"I would normally complain about 5e parking charge but this should be considered as the admission fee so for a family it is the best value around. When we were there we were 5 in number including 4 month baby. Yes the whole place is accessible with the buggy or wheelchair. There is a lift from reception to the cafe. The food is high quality and you can eat outside. Here you find free a wonderful playground so let them free and sit back eat drink etc they are only a shout away. The slide is 2e each adult can go with smaller children. This slide is a must. But and this is a pity you have yo do the walk in the trees and that cost 50e for 4. Maybe that was me not reading the fine print. This walk is well worth it and there are plenty of information points and fun things for all to see and do along the way. I would advise arriving as early as you can. Bring water and camera. The place was not finished when we visited. I was reassured that they were installing special needs facilities, that were delayed, over the next couple of days. 100%"
"Really lovely location for a walk in beautiful scenery beside both the lake and forests. We were fortunate to spot a red deer and many lovely birds. Walks can be as far as you want or as short. The cafe is clean with good food good sausage rolls and cakes. Loads of outdoor seating overlooking the lakes. Good amount of parking we arrived about 9am left around 1. Outdoor food merchants were setting up and this looked fun too. Nice morning or afternoon for a family. Loads of activities at great rates in the activity centre from paddle boarding to cycling and canoeing."
