"Just went for a Sunday lunch.. We were stood for 10mins before any acknowledgement for any staff then was pointed to a table and we had to look for the numbers on the tags. The Carvery..the meat was excellent but the swede was so peppery and the cauliflower cheese tasted like it was soaked in vinegar. The potatoes had no colour and were hard and we waited over 15mins each to be served at the carvery. Oh and the gravy was almost empty so was difficult to get any out. Overall experience was not very good and we will not be returning."
"Our accommodation was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The site seemed a little run down in places, and was a bit out in the sticks. If you didn’t have a car to get around in I feel it would be a bit boring staying on site all the time. Other guests in neighbouring accommodation were a little selfish when it came to parking their vehicles. We only had the one car some of the other holiday makers had 3+ it was pot luck where you could park after coming back from a trip out. We had to park right at the top of the site and walk down with shopping and our bags. On walking round the site we felt that a lot of the other holiday makers didn’t stick to the 5mph speed limit. One last thing please could you invest on some proper defined pathways for pedestrians. It’s literally survival of the fittest when out walking. Thank you."
"Stayed here in Tamar 4 with our 11 and 12 year old daughters, booked via Sykes. A peaceful site set quite remotely in a wooded setting, we only used the pool facilities to be fair. The indoor pool is actually gorgeous, it’s warm both in the pool and out Of the pool, it’s on a booking system which is simple, fast and efficient to use and book, I do think it’s a good idea the booking system as you can book during quieter periods, we booked 3 times following day trips out and each time there was either just us 4 with the whole place to ourself or just one other family of 3 lads and there dad. We booked the last swim times which was fairly late, after each time we saw the pool maintained man testing the water and temp which was reassuring to those with an ocd over cleanliness. There is a sauna free to use as well and it was roasting, lovely jubbly …The whole site may look abit old and out dated but it’s unbelievably clean and tidy and the few staff we did meet were all polite and welcoming. We didn’t book a cabin as we had read an awfull lot of reviews about them being damp and moldy, I can see why this may be the case as they are all mainly set in lower areas of the park and sorounded by trees and bushes towering them, we opted for the chart type upside down cottages, so glad we did. Tamar 4 was beautiful, clean, spacious, very well equipped with more than you could imagine, Wi-Fi, smart tv, Netflix, now tv, just so much to list, welcome pack upon arrival, tea, coffee all there for our arrival. We had our own washing machine, this it’s self was a bonus as wasn’t advertised so we didn’t need as many outfits really. The view from the balcony was gorgeous on an evening and a morning over looking the tamer valley. With help of the info left in the accommodation we managed to visit some stunning beaches, we toured north south and west Cornwall, own transport is essential in this area if planning days out. Busy now planning a two week stay for next year, would surely recommend this type of accommodation and stay."
"We booked the lodge through Sykes cottages who I have also left a review with. Nice and quiet location out in the sticks if that’s what your looking for. We rented lodge 59. Inside was delightful except for a fusty damp smell which was over powering seeing febreeze in a cupboard rang alarm bells . It had everything you needed inside and a hot tub. The exterior was something that needed to be worked on and to say private rented cottages pay a surcharge to have these areas looked after for them , it was non existent . First impressions were not good .The bushes, grass and nettles were all overgrown where we had to brush nettles away from the door to get in. Steep broken and loose steps , handrails broken and rotten, and not at the standard of 1.5 metres high . Very slippery incline and not safe at all . I Would not recommend this lodge for senior citizens or people with disabilities as it’s not a friendly get to place environment for them. On-site facilities need a bit of TLC especially the parks and tennis courts. Indoor and outdoor swimming pool which were lovely and warm , but you had to book your time to swim as we got kicked out after an hour due to swimming lessons taking place, which left my grandson very disappointed. I thought this was a holiday park and not a public swimming pool as people coming for swimming lessons did not stay or live on the site as we watched them come and leave the holiday park. The restaurant was closed for the majority of our stay due to the cook being on annual leave , which was disappointing. However when we finally managed to book a day in the restaurant the food was delicious . The shop was not a shop and it only had a couple of shelf’s with very few items on offer. I have more in my cupboards than the whole shop possessed . The Bar outside space was large and clean and a great space to sit when the sun was out. Unfortunately I won’t be staying here again"
